- PNPauline N NguyenFeb 3, 20231.0I was turned away today because I was wearing yoga shorts. I want to add that there is a photo of a male wearing shorts in the yelp photos. If this rule is going to apply to females, then it needs to apply to the males too. As a ClassPass member, I was not notified of the typical studio policies when I signed up. I was frustrated, only because I have attended multiple Pure Barre classes across multiple states in the past few years and have never been notified of a “no shorts” policy. I was informed that it’s due to the nature of the work out and some props and moves might be uncomfortable on bare legs. The front desk staff also said with their particular community, some of their students might also tell me “no shorts” if I did the class. If that was the case, is it truly for my comfort or their comfort? I think a female student should be informed that the “recommendation” is “no shorts”, but ultimately they should have full autonomy over their workout attire. If a student took a barre class for the very first time and decided they didn’t like wearing shorts because it was uncomfortable, then at least they have an informed decision to not wear them the following time. To be told what not to wear as a female in 2023 was discouraging, and it wasn’t done so in a polite manor either by the staff member. There was no sense of apology or empathy for a customer who endured quite the commute to get there. I have been a Pure Barre student for a few years, and I have to say the company has lost me as a customer.
