I went in to get a scooter they gave me a scooter that they call travel scooter sometimes I'm on the train sometimes my train arrive in the evening if it's dark outside there's no lights on the go-go travel scooter you can't put your purse on there there's nowhere to put your purse you can't carry a half a gallon of milk from the store on this scooter I also told him that the scooter hurt my back That's when I went in to try it out so I appreciate the fact that they tried to get me a scooter so I could go home for Christmas but the scooter that I got the one that hurts my back it hurts my side on the right it feels like somebody's been punching me it took me 3 days to recuperate from riding on the scooter I was in so much pain I couldn't even get out of bed I had to sleep and my recliner so it can lift me up high enough to get up I asked them to come and pick the scooter up they still haven't as of yet it's not to me safe especially if you go to plays in ballets in the evening there's no lighting whatsoever on it and like I said there's no place to put your purse and where I live you don't put a backpack with your money on the back of the scooter The back of the scooter is not high enough for my back That's why I being so much pain but they still won't do anything about it so now I'm going to call the corporate office and see who I could talk to about them replacing the scooter when I was in physical therapy they gave me a different kind of scooter that didn't hurt my back I could carry my purse on it and I could go grocery shopping on my own without depending on other people to take me to and from the store this scooter is more of a liability for me because I can't do the things that I normally would do on a scooter so that's all I have to say but I'm telling you don't get the go-go travel scooter My name is Cynthia Craig and this is what I feel about the travel scooter I'd wish they come and pick it up and replace it with something that would support my back more but as of yet they haven't done anything they won't even respond that shows you how much they care about their clients by the way everyone have a Merry Christmas

Well, I guess I'm not alone at having been stranded, without a usabable wheelchair, confined to my apartment, for over a year now, due to inaction and UNBELIEVABLY slow action.
NSM sat on the first orders for my power chair for so long, at the point I had been told delivery was about 6 weeks away, they then informed me my orders were too old, and that I would need to go back and get new orders, effectively starting the whole process over again. This will be the 2nd Christnas I will be alone because I cannot join my family without a wheelchair.
As many of these reviews illustrate NSM seems to care very little about their customers who are obviously very dependent on them. Their unresponsiveness ranks among the worst I have ever dealt with. Phone calls go to a call center (where the staff is very nice, but they can only do so much), which sometimes, in turn, tries to call the local branch, oftentimes expressing that the Sacramento branch doesn't answer their phones, and if they get through, they are lucky. Emails go unanswered, forms sent to them from their own website are never acknowledged. The local number listed on their website seems to just be routed to the call center. Trying to deal with them has been over-the-top frustrating.
Yes, I am FURIOUS about the way I've been treated (routinely ignored), the endless delays, and the fact that I am missing out on my life because of NSM. I have little grandkids, 3 and 4, whom I haven't seen at Christmas the past 2 years-I see them on zoom only--they are growing up without me because I can't seem to get a wheelchair through this company.
I am on top of my case (I learned I have to be on top of it the hard way, the first time around), I am in touch with my insurance company. I know that they authorized my wheelchair a month ago, yet nobody has even entered it into their system. All my efforts to alert them that they have had it in their possession, so they can actually move forward, are summarily ignored.
I hate to leave bad reviews for anyone, but they have forced me to do this. They have made me so angry and so sad, and they don't even care they've done it. It seems to me, that if you take on the HUGE responsibility of providing wheelchairs, people's mobility, their virtual lifelines, and access to society, then you better get it right. NSM does not.
Never has there been a company that has had more effect on my life, and it has all been negative. If you are lucky enough to not be literally forced to use NSM through insurance, I hate to say it, but I would strongly suggest using another DME supplier

ZERO stars!! Absolute worst place ever with terrible service and no care for their clients at all!! My husband has been waiting for his new chair for 2 years and all we have been given is the run around. Our phone calls were ignored, we could not order the chair that we wanted even though insurance approved it and we were even willing to pay out of pocket but we were told they couldn't order him a titanium chair because it was to expensive for them. Plus our order was canceled 3 times and not by us, by them because nobody there knows what to do. 2 weeks ago we finally got the call saying its ready and guess what Rafael ordered the wrong chair!! We will never use this company again!!
Frequently Asked Questions About National Seating & Mobility
What makes NSM the preferred choice for obtaining mobility solutions?
At NSM, we are uniquely positioned to search hundreds of sources for the precise components needed to create a chair that is made specifically to meet the needs of each client. Each chair can be designed for maximum comfort and ease and will provide the specific therapeutic benefits prescribed for you by the health care team. But what really sets NSM apart is our approach. We work from the heart, honoring your journey of independence with efficient, friendly attention that puts your interests first. This is our life’s work—to help others move through life—and we take it very seriously.
How can I work with NSM for my mobility needs?
National Seating & Mobility is a member of your rehabilitation health care team. We work with your physician, nurses and therapists to provide a one-of-a-kind mobility solution customized to your needs and preferences. Because we work in a partnership with your health care team, we require a referral from them in order to be your mobility provider. To help ensure your choice of NSM, you should request that your physician and/or therapist select us as your provider of choice.
How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?
NSM strives to complete each timeline phase as quickly as possible without compromising any step in the process. Please refer to this page for the full timeline. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?
Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
Do I have a choice of which mobility solutions company to use?
The choice of a wheeled mobility supplier is yours. Discuss your decision with your physician and therapist.
