I want to start this review off by saying that a growth was discovered in my lower pelvis area 10 months ago. It turned out to be a tumor, which was also affecting my female reproductive organs. After being passed around from doctor to doctor and having a myriad of tests performed on me, I finally found an amazing OB who was willing to do a complete abdominal hysterectomy, with removal of said tumor with the help of Dr. Rahimi from Mission Surgical Clinic. I had one appointment with Dr. Rahimi, for which I waited well over an hour for. I waited so long in a room, at one point a nurse came in and asked “oh, you’re still here?”. Dr. Rahimi finally came in to start his examination, with no apology for his tardiness. He was very dry and to the point, but it didn’t matter as I needed a surgeon and would go with anyone at this point. He even tried telling me that removing my tumor would not alleviate me of any of my symptoms that I was currently experiencing and basically made me feel like I was wasting my time and bothering him. With my husband by my side, we were told how the surgery would go. Several weeks passed by and I received conflicting information from my OB’s office on how the operation would go. When I called Dr. Rahimi and spoke to him to get some clarification, I was spoken to in manner that was beyond unprofessional. I understand that doctors are not required to hold your hand through these things, but a little care and empathy would go a long way. I hung up on Dr. Rahimi after he made the callous remark that if I had a problem with things, then he suggests seeking out a plastic surgeon after my surgery to deal with it.
Forty eight hours before my scheduled surgery I received a letter in the mail from Dr. Rahimi’s office stating that he was canceling my surgery. I tried calling his office multiple times to find out what was going on and he refused to speak to me. My husband called, again, he refused to speak to him. My OB even tried calling Dr. Rahimi for 2 days straight, even going so far as to go to the hospital where he performs surgery to try to catch him in person, and again, he dodged even a fellow doctor.
Thankfully, my amazing OB team was able to proceed with my full abdominal hysterectomy and were so skillful, they were able to remove my tumor, as well.
Dr. Rahimi’s arrogance and his ego could have caused so much damage. Not only did he cancel a very serious, a very major surgery 48 hours before it was scheduled, but to not even have the professional courtesy to respond to another doctor is appalling to me.
Dr. Rahimi will make you feel stupid. Dr. Rahimi will make you feel small. Dr. Rahimi will make you feel like you are crazy. Choose anyone else over him. Another doctor at that practice, if you MUST go there. Choose another practice entirely if you’re able to. But choose anyone but him.
I am 6 days post op and even though I am still recovering from major surgery and have stitches, I have less pain now than I did before my surgery. Little by little, the symptoms I was dealing with before, have started to subside. I am feeling BETTER!
I urge you to look into his credentials as he is a bariatric surgeon with a degree from the Caribbean. In the medical community, that is very important.
On one very small, positive note, I will say that Jasmine, their front desk clerk, did try her best to help me through this whole process and I do greatly appreciate the help she was able to give me.
As far as Dr. Rahimi goes, I hope he sees this review. I hope the rest of his staff sees this review. I hope someone takes what I say seriously. The next person may not have the same outcome I did.
