Some staff were lovely, others… charmingly awkward. The equipments were fine, but the exam rooms could use a little TLC, especially considering they “disinfect” surfaces with one thumb-sized lens cleaner, which felt more symbolic than effective.
I came in for a very basic pair of glasses, office glasses which I can leave on my desk. Picked the cheapest frame. Simple. When they called with the price ($500+), I almost laughed and had to double-check I wasn’t accidentally buying designer eyewear. After removing all the add-ons (which I was not asked if i wanted them) thr price came down to $80+ excluding the eye exam. And then I was asked, “So you just want plastic?”
Yes, yes. Plastic please. 😄
Almost three weeks later, the glasses arrived with a rainbow lens effect (unexpected, not magical) that made my eyes hurt, something I’ve never experienced with cheaper office glasses from actual optometry clinics. I’ll be sticking with my usual optometry clinics next time, even if this place is walking distance.

We came to this LensCrafters on the recommendation of Sunglasses Hut in Old Town to have a pair of Oliver Peoples sunglasses adjusted after a poor experience elsewhere. Alexander and his colleague were assisting other customers when we walked in, yet they were still attentive and welcoming.
Alexander personally helped me and immediately made me feel like family—warm, easygoing, and genuinely kind. He took the time to thoroughly clean my sunglasses and carefully adjust the built-in metal so the nose pads wouldn’t slip. What really stood out was his patience—he kept adjusting until the fit was just right and never made me feel rushed, even while helping other customers.
He is also incredibly knowledgeable about the different brands and the quality of the frames, down to how each would support the various activities I do. I wasn’t planning to buy new sunglasses, but his exceptional service made me want to support the store. I ended up purchasing a great pair of Maui Jims, and Alexander went out of his way to offer options and explore ways to order a new pair when it turned out to be the last one in stock.
We’ll definitely be back. Alexander and his team are truly amazing—so grateful we met him!

This store was amazing. Everyone was super kind and helpful, Ahinoan was amazing and very patient with me while I tried on so many different frames. Definitely go here if you are in the area. It’s worth it!

Craziest process of getting prescription glasses. If you have vision insurance finding a local optometrist is the better option for quality, time and responsibility. I got prescription made at Lenscrafters, but the process of getting a frame and lens took over two weeks; either stores did not carry the model or each store cannot share the prescription files; customers have to re-exam or bring the print out; Lenscrafter's website cannot share the data. After spending an abundance of free time figuring out their system, online order arrived with scratched or used lens; both of lenses. The return policies are convoluted and arcane like the purchase experience. Online orders can be shipped back for full return / replacement or bring in to the store for solutions. But it means more time spent dealing with a messy and inefficent process and experience. The next purchase will have to be with a professional Optometry store with knowledgable and professional staff.
Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.
Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?
A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
What is the difference between an eye exam and a vision screening?
A comprehensive eye exam is administered by an optometrist and can detect not only vision problems but problems with eye health and general health as well. A vision screening is typically performed by a general medical practitioner such as a pediatrician or a nurse. While a vision screening can help identify vision issues, it can miss many important issues that a comprehensive eye exam can identify. This is why everyone is encouraged to get annual eye exams. Schedule your eye exam today!
Why should I get an eye exam?
An annual eye exam involves more than just updating your glasses or contact prescription. A comprehensive eye exam can also detect eye health issues as well as general health problems. Conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be detected in early stages through an eye exam, and this can result in early treatment. Schedule your annual eye exam today.
What should I bring to my eye exam?
You should bring your vision insurance and medical insurance information to your eye exam. If you currently wear any prescription lenses, bring your eyeglasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses. You should also bring any and all questions you may have. Contact your optometrist if you have specific questions about any additional items you think you may need to bring to your eye exam.
