  Right off the top, I gotta say that Specsavers is very aptly named. They have great prices for glasses that must be hard to beat. I haven't shopped at every possible optical store in Ottawa, but I have certainly tried quite a few; and Specsavers prices are the best I've found -- even better than Costco Optical (especially when they have a promotional sale on) On the day I bought my glasses, I did a quick comparison pricing at Lenscrafters; and Specsavers' price was more than $ 200 lower for a comparable set of two glasses I have to believe part of this savings is possible because their storefront is considerably smaller than what you find at Lenscrafters (see second photo) Once you have selected the frames you will purchase, the Specsavers staff are very thorough at ensuring the proper fit and alignment of your lenses It's worth noting that, if you have medical insurance coverage that includes prescription glasses, Specsavers will bill your insurer directly; leaving you to only pay the difference between the full cost and what the insurer pays out. This is not something I've ever encountered at any other optical store I've previously tried Upon completing my purchase, I was told that my glasses will probably be ready in two weeks or less; and that they will contact me when they are ready to pick up Not having heard back from the store, I called them after 2-1/2 weeks. I was told one pair of glasses was in, and that they were waiting for the second pair Still not having heard back from the store, I called them again after 4 weeks. This time I was told that they had texted me apparently the day after my previous phone call, and then a week after that. However, they apparently did notice that the text message failed to go thru. Asking what number they texted, it turns out they sending these messages to our home phone (which does NOT receive texts). No explanation or apology for not trying to contact me using a different contact - calling the number, or sending me an E-Mail (??) I arrived just after 4:00 on a Friday to pick up my glasses. The store was very busy. They really need more staff to handle the crowd Once someone started serving, things did go very quickly and smoothly. They found my glasses very easily, and a "fitting" station was immediately available. As with the initial purchase, this final fitting was very thorough and comprehensive (for both pairs of glasses) EXCEPT for the failure in communications, I received very professional and thorough service. And, as I said at the start, the prices are great. One small quibble, however. Perhaps it was because of the large number of customers in the store that Friday afternoon, but personally, I would have preferred that their A/C was cranked up a little stronger If you've never been to this location before, Specsavers is on the first (lowest) floor of the mall on the north side of the main aisleway -- right by the stairway from the first to the second floor (see first photo). This puts them right across from J D Sports (if that helps)

  Dan went above and beyond to help me find my new frames and sunglasses. I already had my prescription done elsewhere. He explained the current sales, and helped me find 2 pairs I loved. They were busy, and customers kept approaching him, he helped them find another associate and didn’t keep me waiting at all. He explained the options and showed them to me. Thank You, Dan! 😁 I appreciate you!
