Professional cleanings Our professional cleanings performed by our registered hygienist form the foundation for preventing gum disease, gingivitis and tooth decay. Cheryl, Lisa and Nancy form a very knowledgeable team with more than 15 years of experience in the dental field. Ensure that your teeth become bright, white and healthy after the cleaning session. In a professional cleaning, your hygienist will: Remove plaque: Plaque is a sticky substance that can lead to deposition of calculus and cavities resulting in tooth decay and gum problems. Remove Calculus: Calculus (tartar) is hardened plaque on the tooth that develops over a period of time in the absence of proper oral care. It can also lead to gum disease if it deposits below the gum line. Remove stains: Dental stains and discoloration are not only caused due to extrinsic factors like excessive use of beverages like tea, coffee, wine and tobacco stains from cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and chewing tobacco, but intrinsic factors too have share in tarnishing your lovely pair of teeth and needs professional dental help. Ensure that your teeth become bright, white and healthy after the cleaning session Polish: Cleaning and polishing of the teeth leaves the surfaces of the teeth clean and smooth so that bacteria are unable to stick to them. Preventive Dentistry Both natural teeth and teeth with restorations survive best in an oral environment that is clean and where the intake of harmful foods is controlled. Our oral hygiene program is designed to help prevent new cavities, preserve teeth that have been restored and manage periodontal disease. At the initial visit oral hygiene instructions are reviewed and are reinforced at subsequent recall visits. The following are helpful recommendations: Brush your teeth twice a day in a circular motion with a soft bristled toothbrush aimed at the gum. Floss every night in an up and down motion while keeping the floss in a U-shape and against the tooth surface. Avoid smoking. Avoid sticky sugary foods. Eat a balanced diet. Use antiseptic and fluoride rinses as directed.

Periodontal (gum) disease, including gingivitis and periodontitis, are serious inflammatory disorders that, left untreated, can lead to tooth loss. The word periodontal literally means “around the tooth.” Periodontal disease is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the gums and bone supporting the teeth. Periodontal disease can affect one tooth or many teeth. Therefore, periodontics is a dental specialty that involves the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the bone and gum tissues that surround and support the teeth or their substitutes. Periodontics also involves the maintenance of the health, function and esthetics of these structures and tissues after active treatment. Dr .Stéphanie Malette and Dr. Rémi Morin are qualified for the following procedures:

Implants are the next best thing to healthy, natural teeth A dental implant is an artificial root made of titanium metal. It is inserted into the jawbone to replace the root of the natural tooth. An artificial replacement tooth is attached to the implant. The implant acts as an anchor to hold the replacement tooth in place. What are the benefits of dental implants over other treatments? Fits and functions like a natural tooth Strong and stable, a dental implant restores a lost tooth so that it looks, feels, fits and functions like a natural tooth. Other options can lead to bone deterioration, and may interfere with eating, smiling, speaking and other activities of everyday life. Built to last Dental implants are a long-term solution. Traditional, tooth-supported dental bridges only last five to seven years, and with proper care often more than 10 years, but at some point they may need to be replaced. While dental implants may need periodic adjustments, they can last a lifetime when properly placed and cared for over time. Protect healthy bone Leaving empty spaces in your mouth after losing one or more teeth can lead to additional health issues. When it is not being used to support a natural tooth, the jawbone deteriorates, losing its strength and firmness. Dental implants are the only dental restoration option that preserves and stimulates natural bone. Eat your favorite foods Taste and enjoy the foods you love without hesitation. You can bite naturally, eat virtually anything you want and, unlike removable dentures that can feel uncomfortable, you can experience the full taste of the food you eat with dental implants, too. Speak easy Adjusting to removable dentures can mean struggling to pronounce everyday words. Not so with dental implants, which function like natural teeth. Retain your natural face shape, and smile A face without teeth can sag and appear sunken and sad. Dental implants allow you to maintain the natural shape of your face and smile.

Dental Care Regular checkups help maintain healthy teeth and gums for the whole family. We offer exceptional care for the entire family: Young children need to learn how to care for their teeth, even before permanent teeth emerge. We make it fun for kids to visit the dentist, helping them develop good habits that will last a lifetime. Teens need regular checkups to ensure continued oral health as they move into adulthood. Adults need regular dental care to ensure good oral health as teeth change due to age. Seniors need dental services that focus on the effects of aging on teeth and gums.

Prosthodontic dentistry is the specialized field of dentistry that focuses on repairing or replacing missing teeth using a variety of techniques and devices including full dentures, dental bridges, crowns, and dental implants. Our dentists have additional training in prosthodontic dentistry. Prosthodontic dentistry involves fitting dentures or bridges for someone whose teeth are already missing, or it may include extraction of teeth that are too severely damaged or whose tooth decay is too severe to be treated by any other means. Devices used in prosthodontic dentistry fall into two categories: Fixed devices include fillings or crowns that are fitted specifically to a tooth or teeth and cemented into place. Fixed devices also include dental implants, which are secured into your jaw. Ideally, fixed devices will last for anywhere from five to 15 years, depending on the material from which they are made. Removable. Removable devices include full dentures or partial dentures, which are removed at night for cleaning.
