We have been loyal Specsavers customers for the past 10 years at the Milton, Ontario location, where my husband and I always received excellent service for our prescription glasses and contact lenses. After recently moving to Nova Scotia, we visited this location for the first time and were extremely disappointed by the rude and unprofessional service we received from the optometrist on Saturday around 4:45 p.m.
The day before, a staff member told me to return the next day because the optometrist would be available until 5 p.m. Nobody informed me that I needed to book an appointment. When I arrived around 4:20 p.m., I was told the optometrist was on lunch until 4:45 p.m., so I waited with my children sitting in the car.
When the optometrist returned, I politely greeted her, but she ignored my greeting and immediately said, “What do you need?” She then told me I should have booked an appointment and refused to help because the store was closing in 10 minutes. I explained that I had followed the instructions given by the staff the previous day, but she continued speaking in a dismissive and rude manner.
The situation became more disrespectful when I asked for her name and the front desk employee’s name. She refused and said, “People like you like to complain.” This was completely unprofessional and unacceptable behavior.
The issue was not that they could not assist me that day — it was the rude attitude and lack of basic customer service. A polite explanation and offer to book another appointment would have been appreciated.
Ironically, after I left the store, the optometrist came outside to apologize for the way she spoke to me, clearly realizing her behavior was inappropriate. Unfortunately, the experience had already left a very negative impression.
After 10 years with Specsavers, this was the worst customer service experience we have ever had, and I will be following up with Specsavers headquarters regarding this matter.

Pathetic service. The optician refused to serve my sister and spoke to her very disrespectfully. She later came outside to apologize, which says enough. We arrived 30 minutes before closing, but apparently she went for lunch at 4:30 PM and nobody informed customers that no one would be served. Very unprofessional experience.

My husband and I recently had the best shopping experience for glasses at Specsavers on Chain Lake Drive (situated within the Real Atlantic Superstore) on Friday, April 10, 2026. I had dropped in prior to both of us when I'd finished grocery-shopping the previous week and vowed to return with our prescriptions and husband-in-tow for new glasses after realizing Specsavers was there. We were not one bit disappointed. I like that the store wasn't overwhelming with shelves galore of frame choices but there's still lots to choose from and what was there suited our needs very well. Specsavers offer promotions that make a huge difference in cost and we were more than happy with our visit to the store. Deborah Morris provided us with every detail of our purchase and the other lady (I apologize that I didn't get her name) with long dark hair and who stayed mostly behind the cash counter also was and is extremely knowledgeable. These two ladies offer quality service and make shopping a real pleasure! Thankyou Specsavers for quality eye care and for having such caring and personable employees.

Our comprehensive eye exams cost $99 at participating stores and include an OCT scan at no additional charge. This is a detailed 3D image of your eye and its structures, helping your optometrist to spot eye conditions even earlier. If you're 65 or over you can get a comprehensive eye exam with no out of pocket expense to you (costs covered by provincial health care plan for eligible patients).
How do I book an eye exam?

Can I return my glasses?
Yes, we want you to be completely happy with your purchase at Specsavers. If you have any concerns within three months of the date of purchase, we'll put it right.

If you placed your order in-store with us and you’d like to amend or cancel it, just pop in and see us. As a part of our no worries, no fuss guarantee, you're able to amend or return your glasses within 3 months.
