I don’t understand the negative reviews, so can only speak to my experience. I have never had an issue with the office, or the doctors. My daughters have been going here since they were born and they are now 13 and 17. We love our girls’ pediatricians past and present (Dr. Ghafouri and Sherman). All staff has been pleasant, flexible, very caring, and most of all competent… and the office is pristine. All this to say I wouldn’t judge the entire office by this seemingly one problematic receptionist. Hope this helps anyone looking for a new pediatrician.

Dear UCLA, Please look into the tone of the one receptionist that continues to be the problem of bad reviews for years. Many of the receptionists are great, the supporting staff is warm and the Drs are fantastic so it’s very unfortunate. Every time I call I pray she doesn’t pick up the phone

As a healthcare provider myself, I understand the demands and challenges of working in healthcare. However, our experience (with reception) at this pediatric office left us deeply disappointed. Just three days after giving birth to my daughter—who, as we later learned, has a thyroid complication—my husband and I arrived 14 minutes late for her first newborn appointment. We had responded to a text from the office explaining the situation and were hoping for some understanding given the circumstances. We take accountability that we were a few minutes late but felt this response was completely unwarranted. Upon arrival, we were met by a receptionist who was not only rude but also extremely condescending. She informed us, in a very passive-aggressive manner, that the doctor would not be able to see us because we were late. While I understand the importance of staying on schedule, her tone and attitude were unnecessarily harsh, especially given that we were new parents managing a 3-day-old infant with health concerns. When we politely asked if there was any way we could still be seen—explaining that our daughter urgently needed her bilirubin labs drawn and her first assessment due to feeding issues, a tongue tie, and her thyroid concern—the receptionist responded dismissively, saying, ‘Well, I don’t know if the doctor can see you now,’ followed by, ‘I’m a parent too, and I’m not late to appointments.’ Her lack of empathy and the way she trivialized our situation was both shocking and disheartening. The interaction became so uncomfortable that we didn’t even feel safe asking for her name, fearing that it would lead to further retaliation and potentially jeopardize our ability to see the doctor. We left the office feeling humiliated, stressed, and unsupported during an already vulnerable time. I fully understand the importance of maintaining schedules in a busy medical practice, but the way this situation was handled showed a complete disregard for patient care and compassion. To treat new parents, already navigating the emotional and physical challenges of having a newborn, in such an unkind and unprofessional manner is unacceptable. Unfortunately, this experience has forced us to seek a new pediatrician for our daughter. I would welcome the opportunity to speak with someone from administration about this incident, as I believe it reflects poorly on the overall culture of UCLA.

I usually feel like they're doing me a favor to get me in there instead of me being the paying customer. I don't feel compassion that they want to help me, rather it's just a job. I've also been badly misdiagnosed here! Location is great but for some reason the level of service I'd expect to see from a doctors office in this area, is not what I get here. Not sure if they're just left with doctors who have no other place to go to for UCLA or what, but the doctors I've liked there left and just not a place I can rank as good aside from the location and it's clean. The front of the house staff seem nicer in person than on the phone, sorry to say. Other reviews have said this as far back as years ago and guess that will never change despite the reviews.

Dr Gregory Dann didn't listen to what I had to say about my child's condition. It's really scary, also, he disregarded what I observed and said "you can't prove it."
