My daughter has really been struggling with POTS symptoms and unable to attend school. We waited 6 months for this appointment ( that you had to have an authorization to make). We live 2 hours away, more with traffic. The day of the appointment I was called 1.5 hours before her appointment time to say there was no authorization approval on file and we needed to reschedule. We were already there. I called the insurance and they faxed over the approved authorization and the front office still said I was missing a different letter from them that they never told me about. I ended up paying so my daughter could be seen since the authorization was not enough. I didn’t know about the other letter and no one asked for it, even though I had been calling every month to see if there was a sooner appointment. I was also called the week before the appointment. It was over $3,000 I did not expect to pay that day. The doctors were kind, although they only talked to us about what we were already doing to help her. No other tests were done. I have now had to stress calling all departments trying to fix a mistake that should have never happened and get a large amount of money refunded. No one has reached out, or apologized, and no one tried to help that day or after. I have been refunded some but still have funds pending the insurance approval which should not have been charged in the first place. Everyone just keeps saying it will take time to process, but no one took time to help in the first place to avoid this mess. I feel like no one really cares and I hope they do not do this to all the patients who are struggling.

I had to rearrange my important work schedule 3 times just to fit around the doctor’s vacation plans.
I scheduled my appointment a month in advance, yet the doctor kept changing it last minute. I ended up taking two separate days off work for what was supposed to be a single back-to-back appointment. It’s a long drive for me, and my schedule was already extremely tight but the doctor offered no flexibility despite the advance notice. Very disappointing that my work had to take a hit just so their vacation wouldn’t.

I’m just say, I’m able to compare UCLA and on other near by Hospital. By far UCLA has done so much more for my daughter.

Dr Skalansky is very knowledgeable and helpful. He is an excellent doctor and I am so happy my daughter is being seen by him. Thank you for all you do for her.
