  Destroyed my lens on my new glasses during a basic adjustment. This was one of the most careless and unprofessional experiences I’ve had at an optical store in my entire life and I’ve been wearing glasses for over 25 years. I walked in for a simple, routine adjustment so my frames would sit higher on my nose. No greeting when I entered. When I approached the desk, the associate told me they “don’t normally do adjustments if you’re not a patient,” but said she would look anyway. That attitude alone should have been my cue to leave. During the adjustment, she applied heat to my frame without removing the lenses. While heating the frame, I clearly heard her say “oh no” but she continued as if nothing had happened, cleaned the glasses, and handed them back. Immediately, my vision was blurry. At first, I assumed it was cleaning residue. Once outside, the blurriness didn’t resolve, so I inspected the lenses more closely and saw that my left lens was shattered from heat damage. I went straight back in and showed her. Instead of taking responsibility, she first tried to clean it again, and then claimed there “must have been a crack already” that simply got bigger. This is completely false. These frames are brand new, just one month old, and cost over $900 between the frame and lenses. A crack of that magnitude would have been immediately noticeable long before this visit. Heat damage does not magically appear. It happens when lenses are improperly handled. She then suggested they could maybe see if they had a similar lens in stock, but I’d have to wait 20+ minutes for a lab tech to check. At that point, I had zero trust left in this store’s ability to safely handle my eyewear and left. Thankfully, my insurance will cover replacing the lens, but that does not excuse what happened. The lack of accountability, the attempt to shift blame onto the customer, and the fundamental lack of technical competence are deeply concerning. If you value your glasses, especially if they are new, expensive, or specialty lenses, do not come here for adjustments. A “quick fix” turned into costly damage, and the response afterward was dismissive at best and negligent at worst.

  Pearle Vision of LaJolla is by far the best place to have your eyes examined. If you have challenging vision Dr. Liu is for you as she is skilled and thorough in her testing to provide the best Rx for your glasses. The staff lead by Tracy are excellent in providing great service to even schedule eye exams after hours. They are the best!

  I had a disappointing experience at Pearle Vision. Despite confirming over the phone that they carried Prada products, I was told in-store that they did not have them. The staff was not helpful and quite defensive when I tried to clarify. I hope they improve their communication and customer service in the future.

  Dr. Liu is a great analyzer of eyes, has a warm and very kind way of approaching her profession. She is all around excellent. Call on Tracy, one of her assistants, and she will equally serve you with care and consideration. Just a wonderful Optometrist and eye glass selection/service location.
