I came in for a routine cleaning and was told my copay was $0, and that I had nothing to pay. I signed paperwork confirming this. The dental hygienist did not inform me that fluoride treatment would be an additional charge, so I reasonably assumed it was included. I was later billed for it.
This isn’t the first time I’ve had concerns with this office. Years ago, I was told I had a cavity, only to be told by a different dentist that it was not a cavity. Years later, I was again told it was not a cavity.
Around 10 years ago, there were also billing issues involving my orthodontic treatment. The office attempted to charge both my parent and the insurance for a portion of my braces that insurance was already covering. At the time, I was a child and had to figure this out myself, which was concerning.
Because these billing concerns have occurred over many years, it appears that the billing department has ongoing issues.
That said, the clinical staff is excellent. The dental assistants, dental hygienists, and Dr. Sanchez were all professional, kind, and thorough. Dr. Sanchez identified a cavity quickly, explained it clearly, and I trusted her clinical judgment.
I paid it because it is okay accidents happen. I did inform them they could run the cameras & see that I was explained I owed 0 dollars yesterday & it was a mistake on their end. I presented my insurance before arriving. The cameras would show I was never asked if I wanted fluoride or not it was just applied.
Morgan from billing was rude & extremely unprofessional, she essentially said I had to option kept portraying as if I had agreed to it & would have to whether I liked it or not. She came off very condescending, it felt extremely unprofessional. Additional training on self accountability & professionalism would be useful.
I told the other lady who I paid the cost to, I didn’t catch her name, but she was very professional but I believe from billing that I would pay for it because accidents happen it was more of the principal of self / business accountability. She was very understanding & took accountability.
The cost was not an issue, it was the way I was approached about it & the professionalism.
