Went for Blood test at Quest in Safeway Cupertino. Best ever quest place (at least for me).

I had a very disappointing experience at this Quest Diagnostics location. I went there for a blood test, but the medical technician couldn’t find my vein. She poked me twice and still couldn’t draw any blood. After that, she told me to come back another day because her supervisor would be there and could do the blood draw. She specifically asked me to come at 8:30 AM.
I returned the next day at 8:30 AM as requested, but I had to wait for about an hour. When I asked about the supervisor, the staff told me she was “on the way.” After waiting for so long, I asked again if they could check when she would arrive, and they said they couldn’t guarantee the time, even though I had been told to come at a specific time.
I ended up leaving without getting my blood test done, even after coming twice and wasting a lot of time. To make matters worse, I was still charged despite the test not being completed.
The place felt very disorganized, and the staff seemed careless about patients’ time. This was honestly the worst experience I’ve had at a lab, and I hope they improve their coordination and professionalism.
I came in for a blood test today, and Susan was truly great and thoughtful. Even though the site was very busy, she worked diligently to care for every patient. I originally scheduled an appointment for 8:20 AM but arrived around 8:32 AM due to traffic after dropping off my kids.
It’s important to note that Quest only holds appointments for 10 minutes, so I had to check in as a walk-in and wait until 9:45 AM. Sitting right outside the door, I saw her working tirelessly to process everyone without taking a second to rest or even grab a sip of water.
When it was my turn, she could tell I was afraid of needles. She calmed me down by chatting with me to distract me, which I really appreciated. Quest is definitely not the place for a walk-in if you don’t have at least one or two hours to spare, so I strongly recommend making an appointment and trying to arrive a bit early!
We arrived at this Quest Diagnostics location 15 minutes before closing because we needed to complete some urgent bloodwork. However, the technician refused to take us, saying it takes 45 minutes for her to process the samples after closing.
If the lab closes at 5 PM, patients should reasonably expect to be able to get labwork done until 5 PM, especially for walk-ins. Turning people away before the stated closing time is very frustrating and misleading.
We usually go to Labcorp for bloodwork and have consistently received much better service. At Labcorp, if they say they close at a certain time, they still accept patients up until that time.
We specifically drove out to this Quest location because it was still listed as open, only to be turned away when we arrived before closing. Now we’re stuck in traffic for nothing. Very disappointing experience and poor customer service.
