Both Dr. Ahronowitz and Dr. Holahan are great. 5/5 no notes
Let's just get the obvious good out of the way. I had nothing but good experience with the physician.
And as a fellow physician I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for and should not expect health care to be cheap if you want it to be good.
However the amount I am being expected to pay for a half hour of time which included the full skin check and the time to do a very minimal biopsy of what ended up being thankfully a nothing issue is exorbitant. I obviously cannot fault the physicians, rather this is a UCLA thing. While living in LA I have always previously had all my care at UCLA (which admittedly is minimal and limited primarily to preventive care other than this dermatology visit) and have never been flummoxed by the bills. This is the first, and it is high enough to make me leave the UCLA system altogether. And it is nonnegotiable according to them. Again, a UCLA issue. You can't even try to talk to the individual physician. So, if you have a health care plan that has a sizeable deductible please be aware that this will cost you quite a bit. This is exactly the kind of thing that leads to excessive health care costs in the US, why the consolidation of health care is going to make it worse, and why we need price transparency in health care. My only hope at this point is appealing through my insurance company, but not holding my breath.
The pathology costs by the way are reasonable so no issue here with that component. Just the dermatology.

After waiting months to see Dr.Saeed she canceled for some unknown reason. No new appointment available. No suggestions from the dermatology department to reschedule or see another Dr.
These people are lame and unhelpful.

Receptionists are misinformed, and lie in order to get patients to schedule appointments. Was told a PDL consult + treatment would be $150 all-in, and once they already had me in the appointment they told me it would actually be $1,500+ out of pocket. Scam artists.
