Club Pilates Downtown Vancouver is a boutique Pilates studio specializing in reformer fusion classes for anyone, at any age or fitness level. Pure to Joseph Pilates’ original Reformer-based Contrology Method, but modernized with group practice and expanded state-of-the-art equipment, Club Pilates offers high-quality, life-changing training at a surprisingly affordable price.
This is a well-managed and highly professional Pilates studio. I especially want to praise Elan—she is a fantastic instructor who makes every class engaging and fun! She always tweaks the routines so the workouts never feel repetitive or boring. Her music choices are great, her cues are clear, and her pacing is absolutely perfect. I always leave her class feeling refreshed, energized, and in a great mood.

Came in for my intro on Monday and had the pleasure of speaking to Kyle and Alex. The instructor was so great and the studio space is well-kept. I signed up and am already enjoying my time here. Can't wait to take more classes!

This place leaves their advertising sign in the sidewalk on Hornby street and it’s so annoying. Women with strollers have to wait and basically dip into the road to get around. They have a property line but they don’t care. Disgraceful.

I signed up excited and cancelled the next day after discovering terms I was never told about!
I went in for a free trial class and genuinely enjoyed it. The studio was clean, the class started on time, and the staff were polite and professional. My only small note was that the trainer felt a bit formal rather than warm, but the class itself was well-run.
I was excited to join. The staff walked me through their membership options and I told them I'd call back to enroll. When I called, they handled the enrollment professionally. They explained it was a subscription billed monthly to my credit card, and mentioned I'd need to give 30 days notice to cancel. I specifically asked to confirm that cancellation only required 30 days notice, and they confirmed yes.
The problems started when I received the signed agreement (signed by staff on my behalf, since I enrolled by phone). Several important terms were never mentioned on the call:
1- There is a mandatory 3-month commitment. This was never disclosed.
2- Cancelling during those 3 months requires a $100 early termination fee on top of the 30 days notice.
3- Pausing the membership (which I was told was flexible for travel or sickness) actually costs $35/month AND requires a doctor's note. On the phone, I was told I could just give 2 weeks notice to pause.
4- Last-minute class cancellations (under 12 hours) were described as no problem if I just texted, emailed or called. The contract actually charges $15 for these.
5- The contract also states that any verbal promises made by staff are not binding unless written in the contract — which makes the verbal misrepresentations during enrollment especially concerning.
I understand contracts have fine print. But when a customer directly asks about cancellation policies and is given an incomplete answer, that's not fine print — that's a disclosure problem. A 3-month lock-in and a $100 fee are not minor details.
What if I tried one month and decided it wasn't for me? What if I loved it but needed a break for work or travel and didn't happen to be sick enough for a doctor's note? The structure felt designed to keep people paying regardless of their circumstances, which isn't the experience I want from a studio I'm excited about.
To their credit, when I cancelled the next day within my 10-day cooling-off period, they processed quickly and without pushback. I appreciate that. However, no one acknowledged that the enrollment call was incomplete, even when I pointed out that I had specifically asked about cancellation terms.
The classes themselves seem good. But please read every line of the contract before agreeing.
