- DCDominic CumminsFeb 10, 20261.0Terrible customer service. Submitted documentation in October of 2025, and it is now February 2026. I received an order number and instructions on how to access the website, but beyond that, I have not heard a word, despite repeatedly leaving messages. Called corporate headquarters, who said I need to speak with the local branch. Back to square one and left more messages. Called back to corporate headquarters to ask for an escalation to get a call back. Guess what? No call back! I find it so disheartening when businesses that are allegedly dedicated to helping people in need make it difficult to work with them. It's not exactly like I want to need a wheelchair! And, just like anyone with a disability, life isn't exactly easy. Thank you for making it more difficult.

Many hoops to get in touch with the person that may actually be able to help. You will have to follow up and you won't get a return call. Absurd really that you can't get the help needed. The live phone people can merely send the appropriate person a message...a message that goes unanswered. If you're fortunate to get a return call and you weren't available, you'll merely receive a voicemail that has you call back to that same useless loop. Highly recommend you use an alternative company...sadly no customer service support with this one.

How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?

Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?
Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
