Steve is an incredible addiction counselor. He is straightforward, genuine, and truly cares about each and every family he works with — and it shows. From his thoughtful and timely outreach, to the daily positive quotes he shares, to the family group forums he hosts for loved ones of those living with addiction, every interaction is intentional and supportive.
The forums have been especially meaningful. They helped us understand what to expect, how not to internalize behaviors related to addiction, and how to better navigate the challenges that come with it. His guidance brings clarity during an incredibly confusing and emotional time.
Steve is truly a blessing to anyone who has the opportunity to meet and work with him. I am deeply grateful for everything he has done for us.

Renaissance Recovery is one of those places that that you will never forget. To call it special, or helpful would be the understatement of the decade. The director of RCC is named Steve, but it really should be Life Saver. I do not say this lightly. Not only did Steve help save my actual life, but my family life as well. I have heard countless testimonies of him doing so for hundreds if not thousands of others. Steve is one of those guys that is absurdly passionate and loves what he does. He also treats you with the utmost respect and is brutally honest. As a matter of fact, the entire staff at RCC handles themselves in this manner. At RCC I was able to not only work on myself, but I was able to work towards finding the root cause of my issues and dealing with them head on. I would HIGHLY recommend RCC to anyone that is struggling and needs help. If you are willing to put in the work, RCC is the best place around.

For substance abuse and trauma recovery. This place is amazing! Lindsay is absolutely fantastic. She is incredible at what she does (trauma therapist) and has a heart of gold! I don't know where I would be without her. She helped me out of a really dark place and I am forever grateful.

Renaissance Recovery – When “Accountability” Stops at the Staff Door
I came to Renaissance Recovery genuinely seeking help and stability. What I experienced instead was a program that talks about integrity but doesn’t model it.
During my stay, there were serious issues involving my prescribed Gabapentin medication and how it was handled by staff. After that situation, I went through over three weeks of painful withdrawal, which led to a brief relapse. I was honest about it—hoping for understanding and support—but the response I received was punishment. They threatened to take away my phone and car, instead of addressing how the problem started in the first place.
When I returned to collect my things, the house manager, Mark, refused to release most of my belongings and made unsettling comments suggesting he was “untouchable.” It was an extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional experience.
Renaissance Recovery claims to stand for “honest recovery,” but I witnessed a culture that protects staff and shames clients who speak up. Real recovery is built on compassion, accountability, and trust—none of which I found there.
I’m grateful to now be in a healthier environment where my recovery is supported, not manipulated. If you or your loved one are considering Renaissance, please think twice. Recovery should be about healing, not punishment.

Does insurance cover rehab?
The answer typically is yes. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) set some standards for insurance policies, one of which includes requiring all insurance plans to cover certain aspects of addiction treatment. The types of services covered will depend on the specific terms of the insurance policy, but most rehabs (including Renaissance Recovery Center in Gilbert, Arizona) offer free assessments and referrals to get you started.
How long does rehab take?
A 90-day strategic program combines one-on-one treatment and can include family counseling to help recover on multiple levels. There’s no one "right" answer—the length of the treatment program is customized and dependent on the patient’s individual goals, budget, and the type of treatment needed. We are prepared to help with interventions, counseling, group therapy, aftercare, and more.
How do you know if you need rehab?

Some people struggling with addiction hit rock bottom if they lose their job, get served with divorce papers, or even wind up homeless as a result of their addiction. Our experienced team is prepared to help with interventions to help you encourage a loved one to agree to treatment.
