  I used to love this gym when I was stationed at Fort Rucker, AL. I'm really disappointed though. Last year in May I walked in and informed the employee that I was requesting to cancel my gym membership because I was getting stationed elsewhere. I offered to show my orders and provide whatever information necessary. I was told that wasn't required and they were very friendly and said we'll cancel it for you. Fast forward to this past week I noticed I was still being charged a monthly fee only because I did an audit on my account for a personal loan. I called the Planet Fitness in Troy and asked if i could please have a refund for all of the months that they charged me money for a service that I did not use yet I was still being charged for. They told me their owner will not refund me for my hard earned money and that instead he's going to keep it for himself. I was really upset because I haven't stepped foot in their gym, I was told it was cancelled, they will not refund me for a service I cancelled and did not use, and I've been very tight on money for my family yet they're making hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. I was promised my membership was cancelled. I don't know why they will not refund me. I'm beyond upset and feel like I'm being robbed. Stay away from this gym

  Do not go here (Planet Fitness in Troy, AL). Charges will come out of your bank account that you do not owe. Yesterday I went to tan and was told I couldn’t because I had unpaid charges. I showed them proof of where the membership fees come out of my bank account every month (even the $49.99 that comes out at different times), and they still wouldn’t let me tan. I was dealing with a new employee who was very young and didn’t seem to know much about the job. He was very rude and talked down to me like I was a child. He should have been more respectful as I am old enough to be his mother. The other employee was very nice, understanding, and helpful and wrote my phone number down to give to the manager. The manager never called me, which is no surprise. I canceled my membership immediately and will not be back. I certainly hope that the charges will cease to come out of my account and that the rude employee actually canceled my membership correctly since he seemed clueless about everything else. He had to call his manager about every step of the cancellation process among other things, so I’m just hoping that this issue is resolved. He even said that I hadn’t checked in to the gym in five years although I had checked in to tan every week since the beginning of May. What is up? Is it their computer system or just incompetent employees? Nevertheless, the only way I would go back is to dispute more charges if they don’t stop after my cancellation. Be careful, and read the one star reviews like I should’ve done. This is not a good place to do business.

  Very clean and plenty of equipment! Bathrooms were also very clean. Overall, great experience so far. Edit 1: Coming here more often, I am greeted and welcomed by everyone except for this dude. For some reason, I don’t know what it is whether if he hates his job or is always having a bad day with me, but he never greets me and never gives me a farewell I have to do it myself. When I do tell him “have a goodnight” he looks at me without saying a word lmao Do you hate your job or something??

  Lots of parking, very clean gym. Restrooms are spotless! All Planet fitnesses are different in the age of the equipment; so there is a little learning curve, but very doable. This was a great place to stop on my way through Alabama.
