I went in to see Dr. Goodman for an eye exam to update my 4-year old prescription because seeing words on my computer were blurry and road signs were difficult to read, and I’ve been getting headaches and strained eyes. He told me my prescription was incorrect and in fact too strong. I told him there is no way that can be accurate, that I’ve had 3 previous doctors prescribe me that prescription, & statistically there’s no way they can all be wrong. He was very dismissive and rude, and wouldn’t assist me in getting a correct reading or redoing it. He told me it was “all psychological and that my eyes think I need something stronger when I don’t” (whatever that means) and that he’s seen hundreds of thousands of patients and he couldn’t be wrong. He offered to dilate my eyes to paralyze part of my eye to get an accurate read, but when I declined because I didn’t feel comfortable driving home after, he just dismissed me. So now I have the incorrect prescription for a year because that’s all my insurance will cover is 1 eye exam per year with these issues that impair my ability to drive safely and work without headaches…

On both appointments, different child and dates, I felt unheard and dismissed. I tried to describe how my son has sensitivity to lights the Dr. Goodman response was “everyone does, we’re human.” I asked the Dr. should I limit screen time with my son, because kids sometimes listen to everyone but parents, Dr. Goodman literally says no he does not need to limit screen time. I’ve never in my years on earth ever had an optometrist says no limit on screen time. I won’t be returning

I had an appt to get contacts. The staff was amazing. But what made my day was DrGoodman refunded some of my money because I didn't need an exam. He could have been dishonest, but he chose to be a person of honor. Thank you LensCrafters.

Frequently Asked Questions About LensCrafters

How do I know if my child needs glasses?

Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.

Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?

A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
