  Last year I went to Chinook Family Dentistry for a new-patient cleaning and intake. I was told I needed 18 x-rays and specifically asked about cost. I was assured they would be covered by my insurance. They were not. This resulted in over $400 in out-of-pocket charges that I would not have agreed to if I had been properly informed. Later, I came in for an emergency filling. It was a quick procedure (no x-rays, no anesthesia). I was charged $251.30 at the time and believed my account was settled. Four months after that visit — and six months after my initial visit — I suddenly received an invoice for an additional balance. By that point, it was too late to appeal with my insurance. Premera advised me that several issues occurred: * I was not billed in a timely manner, preventing me from disputing charges. * The office billed for procedures that are not covered and should reasonably be aware of this. * Extra charges were added later and paired with threats of collections when I questioned them. This experience showed very poor billing practices and a lack of transparency around insurance coverage and costs. I would strongly recommend avoiding this office unless you are prepared to double-check every charge and every insurance claim yourself.

  I’ve been going off the referral of another ASD teacher and have stayed and brought my family for about 10 years. Always easy to schedule, professional, thorough cleaning. The employees are always friendly, knowledgeable and Dr. Symonds is very personable and doesn’t push anything unless I want it. One of the things I love about this place is that they HAVE NOT INCREASED CO-PAY. So many businesses especially corporate keep increasing the co-pay and for teachers who have limited income and pay a PREMIUM for their healthcare every dollar counts. Thank you for your services!
