Oconee County, SC Solid Waste Department is centered at the Office Complex. Our department is responsible for operating and maintaining all 11 county recycling centers, the C & D landfill, the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), and the transfer station (located on site). At the transfer station, we receive waste from municipalities and private waste haulers which is then loaded onto trailers and transported to an approved class 3 landfill in Georgia. In the Materials Recovery Facility, we prepare separated recyclable materials for transport to various recycling vendors across the southeast. Our department is also responsible for collecting and reporting data for state and national regulations.
