Alexander City Business License & Tax Department

The License and Tax Department collects the municipal business licenses, miscellaneous taxes, and coordinates the collection of sales and use taxes for the City of Alexander City. It is our mission to administer the City's ordinances concerning business licenses and taxes in an professional and timely manner and to provide accurate information to citizens, Mayor and Council. Section 82 of the Alexander City Code states that it shall be unlawful for any person, taxpayer, or agent of a person or taxpayer to engage in businesses or vocations in the municipality for which a license is required without first procuring a license.
