My wife and I tried the new location last Friday and the food was excellent. We ordered the Atomic wings and tenders with fries, and they were just as good as any other Wingstop I’ve visited. Since this is a brand-new spot, be prepared for a wait. Even with an app order, the high volume in Charleston meant our food was ready about 40 minutes past the original ETA. If you’re going during the dinner rush, pack some patience, but the food itself is worth it. My only recommendation for the owners is you should turn off doordash ordering for the first month of a new location. It would improve your customer service.
Hope the management is reading these reviews and using this information to change their store to succeed.
We stopped by for some late night wings tonight, our standards were not that high, we just wanted something warm and edible, and I thought the reviews were exaggerating but as I read the last review about too many employees talking while the few in the back drown I was watching the same thing happen with us waiting 20 minutes behind other mobile orders at 1 AM
Genuinely 5-7 employees just standing around/sitting on the countertops talking while you can see the ones in the back go back and forth
As we are going home, I open and check the fries in the bag and they are not just luke-warm, or a little cold, they are "SITTING OUT FOR 3 HOURS" cold. I was disgusted that someone could even serve fries this cold with a clean conscience. Whoever served us those fries, how do you go to sleep at night?
TLDR; there is too many people hired, more people talking than doing literally anything else, the wait was 30 minutes and all of the food served cold with fries being HOURS OLD
It's a new place, so will be gentle and went there because my 14 year old granddaughter and friend "had" to have it. The good: food was mostly just OK and wing size good, got to try the fried corn. The bad: starts with the location with horrible parking (3rd party delivery drivers using traffic lane and handicap parking), restaurant is way undersized with all limited seating right at ordering line or in bathroom hallway, very disorganized and order taker wasn't exactly skilled and caused additional charges on each of 3 combos despite very clear orders (upcharged for larger drinks despite being told to provide sizes that normally come with the combos), waited about an hour for order to be ready, the wings were slightly undercooked to my taste and experience and not particularly flavorful (their original buffalo is so so weak, no salt or pepper to be found nor hot sauce to give them some flavor and bit of heat), the wing dips (ranch and Bleu cheese) were all watery and above room temperature (maybe warmer than the food?) and just completely lacking in any taste or quality, the fries were very sad portions and lots of bits and pieces, the fried corn really wasn't very flavorful and certainly no buttery goodness, dirty table tops and everything comes in excessive wasteful packaging even when eating in, very loud sparse industrial atmosphere with zero acoustics to manage noise and unfriendly to little ones. I'll stick with local places and not this franchise. Not sure this place will survive the initial novelty and location with parking issues and no appropriate seating (did I mention that the majority of seating is a bathroom hallway?).
If you do takeout it will be cold. The fry’s especially will be cold. that being said some of the best fries you can get, even cold. The flavors on the boneless wings are underwhelming. we got the mild the garlic Parm, the hot honey, and the one that tasted like Takis. The hot honey is not good at all, especially when it becomes room temperature, it begins to crystallize. it’s like eating chicken with sugar sprinkled on top. The garlic Parmesan is underwhelming. they clearly use some sawdust Parmesan or some pre-shredded Parmesan, which tastes distinctly different than freshly grated Parmesan. The citrus Mojo chicken is really yummy if you like takis, it’s very refreshing with a nice lime flavor. I would say their traditional buffalo flavor is the safest bet. my girlfriend does not like overly spicy buffalo, so the mild is perfect for her with a pretty decent flavor. The ranch is underwhelming to say the least. i’ve heard a lot of hype around the ranch and I was highly disappointed. You would be better off going to the refrigerator section at your local grocery store and picking up a refrigerated required ranch. overall, I would not recommend going to Wingstop if you anticipate taking out. I believe this issue can be easily solved with some type of temperature regulating holding station instead of keeping them on a shelf at the front. I also ordered an extra cup of ranch and did not receive it. an extra couple ranch is a few dollars that was pretty disappointing, but I have already told you my opinions on the ranch so it wouldn’t have been used anyways. moral of the story is don’t dine out unless they fixed their food holding situation, I got my food actually before they put it on the shelf, which means it was cold before it even left the kitchen, so maybe there’s a bigger issue at hand.
For only the 2nd day being opened they are doing a fine job at handling adversity as well as showing great customer service. Short older black gentlemen is the captain of the ship and there are 2 black cooks who are spicing it up in the kitchen as well as being team players overall . As far as the food I got the 15 count boneless wing half Hawaii and half garlic parm and they were all lightly breaded and sauced to near perfection . The chicken actually tested like chicken instead of just a ball of grease you get from most places . I’ve ate there 3 times in the past 2 days come support so Charleston can keep expanding !
