Ordered McDonald’s online for pickup at the Lake Mills location. The app normally prompts you to select a parking spot on arrival, but once we got there it told us we had to go inside instead and wouldn't let us select our spot. I stood inside for 15 minutes without a single staff member acknowledging me, no greeting, no eye contact, nothing.
There was a woman with her two kids waiting before me with the exact same issue. Her food was already made and sitting there, but no one would stop long enough to hand it to her. After waiting and being ignored, she eventually gave up and left.
When an employee finally walked by (clearly trying to avoid me), I asked if I could just cancel my order. He immediately got snotty and then tried to hand me the other customer’s (lady and two kids) food, which confirmed how disorganized the place was. All I wanted was to make sure I’d get my money back. Instead, I was treated like I was an idiot. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told the manager “wouldn’t talk to me.” It’s now been weeks, and I still haven’t gotten my refund.
They were a little busy, but nothing out of the ordinary—certainly not busy enough to excuse ignoring customers completely.
For comparison, we stopped at the McDonald’s in Waukesha on the way home. Ordered online five minutes out, parked, entered the spot number, and within two minutes a friendly employee brought our food out. That location was absolutely packed—lines inside and out the door—and still ran flawlessly.
Moral of the story: if you want McDonald’s, keep driving past the Lake Mills location and go literally anywhere else. This one is awful.
