I am writing to share a deeply disappointing experience that occurred at this restaurant on Monday, November 3 Kenosha Wisconsin, which I consider the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. I visited this location with my three young sons and a friend to watch Monday Night Football. My youngest is one years old, so I brought small toys to keep him entertained. As most toddlers do, he occasionally dropped his toys on the floor, which I promptly picked up each time to ensure nothing was in anyone’s way.
The issue began after our food arrived. My one-year-old threw a few fries on the floor, and I immediately corrected him. I got up to make sure no fries were in the aisle and kicked a few that were nearby under our table so no one would step on them. At that moment, a man sitting at the bar yelled across the restaurant, telling me I should “pick up the fries instead of kicking them.” I turned and saw him glaring at me. I calmly told him to mind his own business and tried to move on, but he continued to berate us with rude and unnecessary comments.
He sat staring at my family with an intimidating look, clearly trying to make us uncomfortable. Then, after noticing that I had a beer, he began yelling across the restaurant that I “shouldn’t be driving” because I was drinking with my kids present. My friend and I had only two small beers over the 30–45 minutes we were there. The man then claimed he was calling the police and pulled out his phone. He acted as if he was talking to someone and pointing towards our table why on the phone. My children, ages six and seven, overheard him threatening to call the police officers and became frightened, repeatedly asking if we were in trouble.
At that point, I requested to speak with a manager, as I did not want to confront this individual myself. When the manager came over, I explained that this man had been harassing us and frightening my kids. The manager’s response, however, was extremely disappointing. He said only, “He’s not going to call the cops,” and “We’ll handle this,” but appeared distracted by the game on TV during our conversation. He walked away, and I never saw any employee approach or speak to the man.
The harassment continued. The man loudly mocked me again, telling employees to “get her a broom and dustpan so he can pick up after his kids.” At one point, he called me “unfit to be a parent” because I let my seven-year-old son go to the restroom on his own. The bartender and the man even chuckled together after some of his comments, which made the situation feel even more hostile.
Despite me reporting the behavior, the staff failed to intervene. The only person who offered any reassurance was our server, who told me to “just ignore him” and mentioned that the man was a regular customer that came in often. While I appreciated his effort to calm me down, the fact that no one addressed the man’s harassment was completely unacceptable. The harassment persisted even after the manager spoke to me about this behavior. Eventually, we paid our bill and left, but I waited briefly afterward hoping the manager would check in or apologize — that never happened.
As someone who worked in the service industry for ten years, I understand that staff cannot control every customer’s actions. However, when one guest is openly harassing another, especially a family with small children, it is the staff’s responsibility to step in and ensure everyone feels safe and respected. The lack of action and empathy from the management that night was outrageous and unacceptable.
I have been a loyal Buffalo Wild Wings customer for over a decade and have always enjoyed visiting your restaurants, but after this experience, I do not feel comfortable returning to this location. I strongly urge management to review this incident, speak with the staff involved, and provide additional training on how to handle customer harassment and protect families in situations like this.
This is, hands down, the worst experience that I have ever had sitting down at a restaurant.
