I usually shop in the evenings or after 8pm and most employees I've interacted with during my shopping trips are personable and friendly. There are a few who seem like they're just miserable in general and they dont even smile, but only a few. They have a decent selection for groceries even though the store is smaller than others and I can usually get everything I need as far as food items go. There are a few areas in which this store could do much better though. For example: the fact that they invested in remodeling the store and now store the shopping carts outside, uncovered and exposed to weather makes it very inconvenient for those of us who have to use one because when its raining (EVERY MONTH OF THE YEAR IN OUR AREA) the carts are soaking wet and cold, therefore it makes it really hard to use because your hands get soaked just trying to push it around, my purse gets soaked trying to put it in the front of the cart while I shop, and everything I'm BUYING GETS WET!!! Last week I bought a few 12 packs of soda during their sale, only to have the cardboard get wet by being in the cart while I shopped and had two of the cases rip while loading in my car, and soda cans literally went rolling everywhere in the parking lot, in the pouring rain mind you. The soda cans were okay but what a huge inconvenience to customers and i know im not the only one with this complaint. This is a big frustration while shopping here, and I've recently started driving further from home to Fred meyer if its raining so I don't have to deal with a soaking wet cart! Thankfully my daughter is a teenager now, but I'm sure there are plenty of frustrated parents with little ones who aren't able to put their toddler in the front anytime we have rain because they're gonna get wet! Just a ridiculous idea to keep the carts outside exposed to the weather. I dont know who decided this was a great idea, but clearly they didn't consider customers during this design process. The other bad thing about safeway in general is the obvious price gouging. $11 for a bottle of shampoo? Its definitely price gouging snd not inflation when i can buy the same exact shampoo about one mile away at walmart for $6. This is the case with most of their non-grocery items they sell at safeway. Ridiculously high priced on all of it. 🙄 The shopping carts being outside is definitely my biggest complaint at this store.
