Safeway in Salmon Creek, Vancouver, WA: not your grandma’s boring grocery store. First off, this place has a cozy little sit-down area with a fireplace—yes, a *fireplace* inside a grocery store. Perfect for plotting world domination, writing your next novel, or just pretending you’re fancy while sipping a Starbucks. Speaking of Starbucks, they’ve got one right there, and the pastries? Let’s just say their specialty cakes could probably start a small cult. There’s also a clearance section near the produce, which is basically a treasure hunt for the curious shopper. You might find a random spice you didn’t know you needed, or that thing you forgot existed since 2018. Safeway has been around since 1915 (that’s over 100 years, folks!), and this location keeps up the legacy with a solid mix of everyday essentials and some “specialty items” that make you feel like a grocery store Indiana Jones. Not too many, not too few—just right. So yeah, come for the groceries, stay for the fireplace vibes, and leave with a weirdly specific ingredient you didn’t even know you needed. This Safeway is basically the Swiss Army knife of supermarkets.

I’ve been shopping Safeway for more than 45 years now , I have always loved camas and Washougal stores , enjoyed Hazel Dell . I’ve been having Delivery from Salmon Creek for the last year and this is the worst store I’ve ever dealt with . Food is usually either moldy , stale or on the verge of expiration , I’ve been assaulted by one of their drivers , the manager of . Com has the worst attitude of all . I can’t do anything about having to reschedule delivery if I’m called into work last minute , I have the option to reschedule before their shoppers start my order . I’m expected to cancel then do a new order that will take a day to get . 9 out of 10 times my food is out of stock before it’s delivered , maybe if it was shopped during delivery window and not 4 hrs later I’d get what I order . Customer service is a problem at this store .edit ! It continues to get worse , I canceled an order on the 9th and didn’t get it refunded until the 13-14 . Then they bring some of the canceled items in the order on the 12th but left out things I needed , they charged an extra 32.31 on the 12th when my total was over 93$ the 32.32 is still pending 5 days later and they refuse to release the hold for the 32.31 . This is theft !

They don't honor coupons or prices. I bought an item with a 30% coupon tag. The "Reg Price 5.99". If you look at the receipt, the regular price came up as $6.99. I brought this to the attention of the teller, who entered the 30% coupon, but told me, "You're fine," after I informed him that the regular price was listed on the item as $5.99 (See photo). I've started shopping more at Fred Meyer's because I've been experiencing a continuous issue with Safeway. If I hadn't been in a hurry, I would have pressed the issue further. I don't blame the staff; they were busy as we're heading into Thanksgiving. The staff at this location is friendly, but they have told me that the corporation itself is not good to its employees, so I'm guessing I shouldn't expect much in the way of honoring coupons or marked-down items. It's the management that creates the culture.
