Employees down every isle. Half the shelves empty so obviously nobody is stocking. 3 watching self checkout, 2 checking receipts at the door. One register open. 80% of the staff is only there to "babysit" customers. Not help them. Just watch them.

Went in bought my items. Went through the check stand right next to the enterance/exit. The little kid they had working checking receipts tried to get mine. I thanked him and said I don’t play that crap. Then tried to tell me not to come back to the store. This is what it’s come to in Washington. Either comply with their “POLICIES” or we will ban you from every store for paying for your items and being law abiding.if I go in a business now and they have receipt checker people. Or displays and crap stacked up corralling people in one of two entrances that can be used and I don’t pay to shop there. I turn around and walk out.🤷‍♂️

Customer Relations Department Albertsons/Safeway Corporate Headquarters 1624 72nd St E, Tacoma, WA Immediate Cessation of Patronage & Formal Complaint Regarding Employee Misconduct, Intimidation, and Bullying at Safeway Store I am writing to formally register the worst and most unprofessional retail experience I have endured in decades of being a loyal Safeway customer. As a new resident in the neighborhood served by the 72nd St Tacoma Safeway, I anticipated this store would become my primary grocer. Based on my recent experience, I can assure you that Safeway will never receive another cent of my business. On 10/25/2025 around 12:30pm, after completing my shopping and patiently standing in a long checkout line, I was accosted by an employee immediately after paying. This was not a polite, standardized request; it was an aggressive and unacceptable demand for my receipt. The employee, without identifying himself or providing a courteous explanation, got "in my face" and stated, "I need your receipt and I need it now!" I was flabbergasted, having just completed a legitimate transaction, to be treated immediately as a presumptive thief. When I questioned the employee's aggressive tone and requirement, the situation escalated into an act of clear intimidation and bullying. The employee threatened me by stating that if I did not comply, he would "take my picture and do not ever come back here again!" To have my patronage immediately and publicly revoked, following an aggressive confrontation over a receipt check that felt less like security and more like harassment, is utterly indefensible. The core issue here is not the request for a receipt, but the rude, confrontational, and threatening manner in which the employee conducted himself, treating a paying customer with blatant disrespect and outright hostility. Please consider the serious liability this type of conduct poses to your organization. This employee is actively creating a hostile and intimidating environment, risking a volatile situation by deliberately provoking customers. I urge you to immediately review your security procedures and employee training programs. Employees must be trained on conflict de-escalation, professional conduct, and the profound difference between deterring shoplifting and bullying paying patrons. Be assured that this individual's actions have permanently alienated a long-standing, neighborhood customer. I will not return to any Safeway store. I expect confirmation that this complaint has been formally logged and that remedial action will be taken regarding the employee's behavior and your store's security practices. I researched the law: No, you are not legally required to show your receipt when leaving a Safeway store unless they have a reasonable suspicion of theft. Stores can ask to see your receipt, but you can legally refuse to show it. However, if you refuse and the store has reason to believe you've stolen something, they can legally detain you for a reasonable time to investigate the suspected theft. Store Policy vs. Law: While there is no law mandating you show a receipt, each store has its own policies. Reasonable Suspicion: A store employee can only force you to show a receipt if they have a "reasonable suspicion" of shoplifting. This is not the same as a general rule for all customers. Safeway is going down slowly. I am a radio announcer and this will be a great topic to discuss on my radio show.

I went to the store about a month ago and rented a carpet cleaner. I had a good experience. Everybody was nice and friendly to me. I bought some fruit and didn’t have any problems. I actually went to the store about three times in one day. It was quick in and out. Everybody was friendly. The service was fast. The store was clean. I hear people say that they don’t have a bathroom so I guess don’t be in the store too long. I don’t know about that. I didn’t have to use the bathroom so that wasn’t an issue for me. There was a mixup with my carpet cleaner and they had charged me twice, but they fixed it when I returned my carpet cleaner and I got my money back right away, so it was a good experience.
