As somebody who also works in retail I don’t like having to leave comments like this, however the store hours clearly say they closed at 12 am today. I don’t have a traditional 9-5 schedule and can’t shop at the same time as a lot of people in this neighborhood. I understand why they lock the doors for safety reasons and have to unlock it to let people out. However, this allows one of the male employees to control who is able to shop here. According to reviews it seems to be the same person causing this recurring issue and I am not the first one to contact customer service. I tried to come in at 11:39, not because I felt like it but because like him I also work in retail and work late hours. He was unlocking the door to let a couple customers out, and he says I’m good if I “need to grab one thing.” Because according to him it takes 21 minutes to grab one thing. Is he going to follow me around the store and make sure I only grab one thing? I needed maybe four things and I knew where everything was. I would have been here for maybe five minutes. I ended up just turning around and going home because I didn’t feel comfortable walking out of the store with more than one item, knowing he would have to unlock the door for me and see that I was carrying multiple items that took a couple minutes longer to grab than one. I feel like he purposely makes customers feel uncomfortable or awkward to deter them from coming in. I understand it’s late and he wants to go home, but I would have left the store before his shift was over. According to reviews this is a recurring issue. If he doesn’t like having people shop when the store is clearly open, he should either change his schedule or work at a store that closes earlier. But he can’t be bothered to let a couple customers in after 11:30 because the money spent doesn’t affect his paycheck personally. Having experience in retail it bothers me when other retail associates try to close the store before the actual closing time or make customers uncomfortable, because the money spent does not make a difference for them.

This is easily the best Safeway in the city. All the fruits and vegetables are high quality, and have good prices in comparison to other grocery stores. Meats are cheap as well. The aisles are incredibly wide, and there is ample and easy parking.

This is the best Safeway in the city. The parking is always clean and bright, the store is organized and rarely runs out of the things I need (quite the opposite!), the staff is very kind and helpful (Cheryl is great to chat with). Another great thing is that they share the road with Trader's Joe's, and I definitely go to both of them for different things, which makes my trip very efficient. In addition to that, the pick up option on the app helps me a lot when I can't go inside the store. They are fast and I am in an out in 5 minutes with all my groceries. This store is 10/10.

Every Safeway in seattle is struggling, I especially dislike shopping at the locations with the weird panopticon in the middle (like the rainier beach and ranier ave locations) for medicine and tampons. This location is better but Safeway desperately needs to pay their pharmacists more and hire more of them, currently waiting more than an hour for emergency room prescriptions while my frozen goods disintegrate in the car.
