I usually shop at Safeway and appreciate the staff, but I had an uncomfortable experience at the self-checkout recently. An older employee was standing very close behind me while I was scanning my items, watching me with a very serious expression, almost like I was trying to steal something. It made me feel uneasy. I hope Safeway can provide some guidance on giving customers space while assisting them.

I find the Ballard Safeway on Market Street dirty and smelly. Furthermore, the parking lot has trash strewn on it, and the stairs from the parking garage are almost always filled with trash and “liquid” of some sort. Other times, I have found people sitting on the stairs, blocking the way. I have frequently chosen not to use the stairs (walking the driveway instead) because of the trash and filth. Worst Safeway I have ever shopped at.

I went to get some money that I was sent o through Western Union....when I approached the counter I gave the number and My ID ...(Licence) The Asian lady that does Western Union informed me that I couldn't get the money because in my license I have two last names ( I'm Hispanic) and the person that had sent me the money only wrote one.... I told her that this has never happened to me when I have received money but she said she couldn't do it... However she goes ahead and tell me to go across the street and do it in Walgreens...I found that infuriating because one minute she told me she can't do it however she told me somebody else can....I felt very descriminated by her. I hope Safeway takes this very serious so it doesn't happen to somebody else.
