Food was delicious and very fresh! The Chilean sea bass was perfection. Our server, James, was very friendly and knowledgeable. Prices were reasonable and the menu had a great variety. Would definitely eat here again!

My husband and I celebrated our 32nd anniversary here. We were treated with such care, the good was excellent and our servers (Ethan & Damian, in training) were so attentive. Great view, great food, great service, great experience!

Unfortunately, our visit to Cutter's started poorly. We arrived at the restaurant about 30 minutes ahead of our reservation time. We were quickly greeted by the hostess and she said that the wait for a table would be about 10 to 15 minutes. This was not unusual since we generally like to arrive early. We noticed what appeared to be a very nice bar with only a single couple sitting in the bar area. We asked the hostess if we could wait in the bar and order a drink before being seated. Much to our surprise, she replied that everyone was pretty busy and that we should probably just wait on the couch in a back area next to the restrooms. Okay. We sat there for about 10-ish minutes when the hostess came by and told us that our table would likely be ready closer to our actual reservation time. Okay. We sat there for a couple of minutes and then again went and asked if we could now get a drink from the bar. She didn't seem very happy with the second request but then told us to go ahead. As we started toward the bar, she adamantly explained that we could not be seated at our table until the bar tab was paid. Okay. This was all very unusual compared to the other hundreds of times that we've dined at "above average" restaurants. Or even many below-average places. The service at the bar was not much better. We both walked up and were greeted and we ordered the same drink. The bar was busy with drink orders but not any busier than any bar at any other restaurant. One worker behind the bar was pretty much mixing drinks non-stop. The other worker, who took our order, seemed to be mostly doing “administrative” work. And a lot of walking from one end of the bar to the other. Mind you, we were the only people in the actual bar area. Maybe now we know why. And maybe the hostess was on point – just not in the most customer-service friendly manner. After about 10 minutes at the bar, without any drinks, the hostess came to tell us that our table was ready. Again, she mentioned the rule that we would have to tab out before proceeding. Still no drinks. We debated cancelling the drink order and waiting until seated to re-order. But we thought this might also create another 20-minute wait. So one of us stayed at the bar while the other went off with the hostess to be seated. That was apparently maybe skirting but within the rules. A few minutes later, our drinks were finally made. A few minutes more and our payment was accepted and I was free to venture off to find the table. The good news starts here. We were seated at an excellent window table with great views of the water and the Olympic mountains. The general atmosphere of the restaurant was nice and the noise level was normal for a mostly but not completely full dining area. Absolutely nothing to do with the restaurant -- our experience had a little extra weirdness added by the two gentlemen seated next to us. Based on their discussion (mostly one way), they were apparently at a business dinner. I generally do very well to tune out all nearby conversations, but one of the men was vocally trying to teach the history of Christianity to a young, middle eastern man who seemed to be well educated and not in the mood for or in need of religious conversion. He said very little while just trying to eat his meal. According to my wife who unfortunately sat a bit closer, there were many inaccuracies being “explained” by the would-be Reverend (or future cult leader). Back to the restaurant. The food was very good. The best and most surprising thing was that the prices for entrees at Cutters were 20 to 30 percent less than most other fine dining restaurants in the area. That earned a star. Our server was also great – friendly, willing to chat, and helpful with recommendations. Based on our overall experience at Cutter’s, we would likely not return. But hopefully the night of our visit was maybe just an aberration for them and not their usual level of service. We hope the hostess and the bar staff have better days.

The host was helpful and managed to seat our large group. Ethan was our server and he was the perfect mix of attentive but not intrusive. The food was excellent. I will definitely be back.
