I've been living in Fairwood over 10 years. This Safeway has gone way down hill. They consistently sell me rotten meat (well within expiration date but when you open it up it stinks). You can tell they leave it out too long before refrigerating... Most of the fruit is straight up moldy. Good luck trying to buy strawberries or something like that. Layout is nonsensical and they're constantly making changes which make their jobs easier at the detriment of customers. On top of the frustration with the poor quality food, they are constantly trying to trick you into paying more. Every single time I check out I have to have them adjust prices because the price at the register is higher than what was posted on the shelf. At this point I'm taking pictures on my phone of any discount because I inevitably have to pull at least a few up. It also seems that they try to sell food that's already turned or about to go bad as it benefits them to have people throw out food and rebuy it. Forget about pickup. They'll load you up with the closest to expiration food they can find.Something has changed with this company. It's one thing to raise prices, it's another to see your customers as an enemy to trick money out of. Also Albertsons (Safeway parent company) bought up the entire complex (both sides of petrovitsky) so we can never have a competing grocery store here. They embrace all of the terrible ideals of late stage capitalism. I'm done with Safeway, fred meyer, and Albertsons. Winco is another 10 minutes down the road.

I am writing this review to document a pattern of behavior that has made me feel profiled and intimidated while shopping at this location. On multiple occasions, the security alarm has sounded when I exited the store, regardless of whether I used self-checkout or a cashier, and despite having fully paid for my items. Each time, staff attention was immediately directed toward me, creating an uncomfortable and humiliating experience. What is most concerning is that this has happened repeatedly, not as a one-time technical issue. I have observed other customers exiting without issue, while I continue to be singled out. This pattern has made me feel unfairly targeted rather than supported as a paying customer. I expect retail environments to treat all customers with respect, dignity, and fairness. Repeated alarm activation and staff response directed at the same individual raises serious concerns about profiling and intimidation. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, reviews store procedures and security systems, and ensures that customers are not subjected to repeated distress without cause.

This store use to be good. The remodel was a step backwards. Nonsensical store layout. Difficult to find anything. Shortage of shopping carts and baskets. There’s almost no smaller carts that older shoppers prefer. What few carts or baskets that they have are usually all placed at one entrance or the other. Leaving one entrance without any baskets and carts. I have mobility issues. It’s a big deal for me to walk to the opposite entrance to grab a cart. This Safeway store is the only local store of any kind that hires security to check receipts when exiting the store. In my opinion that money would be better spent on buying more carts (small and large) and baskets and hiring employees to insure they are located at both entrances of the store. This use to be my “go to store”. Now I find myself driving past it to go elsewhere. It’s a sad decline to what had been a community stable.
