My husband, a Black man, was closely monitored by an employee while checking out, despite doing nothing out of the ordinary. A white customer at self-checkout at the same time was not subjected to the same scrutiny. This experience felt like racial profiling and left my husband feeling disrespected. He works hard for his money and should not be made to feel suspected simply for shopping. I’m bringing this to your attention not to accuse, but to ask that this be addressed through awareness and training so no one else has this experience.
