We've always looked forward to Tacos El Rey on our trips passing through Moses Lake. Our stop on December 4th 2025 was truly the worst Mexican food of my entire life. Salsa which was always very good, taste like watered down tomato sauce. The tongue tacos were bland, sauces were bland. Not sure if the place was sold or if the person with the secret recipes left, but we aren't stopping here again. Too bad.

Th food wasn’t bad and I’d say pricing was pretty fair for food specifically, but the order wasn’t understood (daughter ordered rice and beans with no cheese and received a side of fries, partner ordered carne asada and she received the wrong kind of tortillas).
The sodas were $5 each which is what I’d expect for fresh jugo or agua frescas, not fountain sodas or iced tea that nobody asked us for refills on.
They also charged a $4 fee on a $70 order (including the extra fries we don’t originally want) for not paying with cash.
I go the Tierra y Mar burrito and liked it, but it was a lot of rice and not a lot of meat. Love the cutting board presentation of the dish but it cut down on room for fries or dipping sauce, its main side.
We just walked away feeling a little bit ripped off.
Will probably stop again some day and give another chance. We’ll come with cash and drink water, though.
