I’ve been a customer at the Milton location since 2018 and I have never had any issues with an employee treating me the way one did this morning when I was at the self-checkout. As I was paying I could see one employee move just close enough to watch me as I was putting bills into the self checkout machine and I could also feel another pair of eyes watching me from the back. It made me feel tense to be stared down while checking out, but with increased theft everywhere due to prices being so insanely high, I tried not to take it personally. But…When I grabbed my receipt and started to walk towards the door, I was basically assaulted with an unreasonably loud, sarcastic and condescendingly toned “Beeeauuutifull!! Wonderfull job!!!!!” This clearly wasn’t meant to be friendly; this was deliberately meant to make me feel like an idiot and it was for no reason. I have never stolen, or have I ever caused problems here in all the years I have come here. The anger I felt right after the lady said that almost made me lose my cool, but I held myself to together and walked away as far as possible. Who knows how I would have responded if I haven’t developed good self coping strategies. Was it because I had just rolled out of bed, only having time to get my daughter ready for school and I looked disheveled as a result? Was I mistaken for being homeless or something? Whatever it was, now that I know I’m going to be treated this way if I come here again, only a true idiot would come back.

Generally a very convient store and sometimes helpful staff, but Ive had more than my fair share of rude experiences. Those experiences are why I only come here when Im working. Easy enough location to shop at though.
My biggest gripe though, on multiple occasions Ive had clerks at the self check-out misgender me. Let me be abundantely clear *that* is not the problem and does not upset me all that much, if anything I simply find it confusing.
What does upset me however is several times now, after I have given the most polite and unoffended correction I can to people, the clerks have felt it was absolutely necessary to snap at me or talk under their breath imaging I cant hear them.
Again let me be clear, Im not upset that people call me sir or he. What upsets me is people act like I just kicked their dog when I say something as simple as "Hey, not a guy by the way."
You can say "I dont care" all you want while you walk off, but do it in your head. Not every customer who comes into your store is utterly oblivious.
