I recently visited Safeway to purchase ice cream that was advertised in their weekly flyer at a sale price. Instead of honoring the price, an employee identified as James questioned me and demanded that I pull out my phone and prove it on their app, even though the sale was clearly in their printed weekly ad. I explained that I have disabilities and struggle with technology, and that my blood sugar was low because I hadn’t eaten all day. I also had my service dog with me.
Instead of helping, the employee made the situation public and confrontational, causing other customers to stare at me and judge me without knowing what was going on. Despite clearly explaining my disabilities and asking for reasonable accommodation, he refused to sell me the ice cream and kept repeating that they could “refuse service to anyone.” The situation was not just frustrating, but deeply disappointing and dehumanizing.
When I later called the store to try to resolve the issue, the manager continued this behavior instead of helping. He claimed they were “losing money” or being “taken advantage of” by online deals, even though this was a clearly advertised weekly sale. He again insisted they could refuse service to whoever they wanted, even after I clearly stated my disabilities and asked for accommodation. The manager even went so far as to call me names on the phone.
In the end, their behavior was so hostile that I didn’t even want anything from the store anymore. Being treated like a criminal over a carton of ice cream — like they were thugs gate-keeping a sale — was completely unacceptable. Customers with disabilities should not have to beg for basic respect or be humiliated over a clearly advertised price. I hope Safeway takes this seriously and retrains staff on disability rights, customer service, and basic human decency. Nobody should have been treated this way.

This safewy is particularly clean. When the employees are always talking to us. The produce is not too good, in comparison to QFC.

"This is truly a great place to go if you’re looking to sell silver. I’ve visited many times, and each experience has been consistently positive. The staff are professional, fair, and transparent, always offering me excellent deals for the silver I’ve brought in. What I appreciate most is how straightforward the process is—they make you feel comfortable, explain everything clearly, and ensure you walk away confident that you’ve received a fair value.
Over multiple visits, I’ve found their customer service to be reliable and respectful, which is why I keep coming back. They treat every customer with care, whether you’re selling a small amount or a larger collection. If I had more silver to bring in, I would gladly return again and again. It’s rare to find a shop that combines honesty, efficiency, and great deals all in one place, but this store truly delivers."
