This is my local grocery store in which I live closest to. My family and I shop here and use their pharmacy.
I do not write reviews often, maybe a couple or few times, including this one, in my 50 years of life. It pains me to have to express myself in this way. I thought about just ignoring it and go about my business but I felt compelled to write about my experience.
I have a chronic illness that I have been dealing with for almost 2 decades. I try to be normal and not physically show it because I will not let it control my life.
This is the worst pharmacy I have ever used.. Recently, I tried to have a prescription filled that I’ve filled for years.
It became such a pain in the butt with no help provided. A huge run around and I’m suffering mentally and physically.
I remind you that I’ve been on medications for at least 15 years and it is necessary for me to get through my daily full time job, and life.
My wife tells me how rude they are to her as I have asked her to help me while I am busy at work or not feeling well. She tells me they do not pick up her phone calls using her phone and pick up the call using a different number. Then keeps her holding and waiting until it goes to a recording and hangs up.
I understand there are some medications that are frowned upon but I felt like I was judged and treated like a criminal for no apparent reason but to get a prescription that is legally written by a medical doctor.
I am a husband of 30 years. I am a father of 4 daughters and a grandfather to 6 grandchildren. I have a full time job since I was old enough to work and am currently a field operations manager who deals with face to face clients daily. I understand what customer service means and looks like.
I am not some homeless or a sketchy person and unfortunately I have to take medications to help with my daily responsibilities. I should not have to feel anxious picking up my medication. When I have come in to pick up my prescription, I am dressed properly, try to conversate, am polite and thank the staff.
I currently have moved on and I will never get my prescription filled here ever, or step foot in a Safeway again for groceries.
I apologize for this review and I am positive this does not reflect Safeway as a whole. Every customer is different, every customer walks their own path in life, but every customer should be treated as you yourself would like to be treated.
Obviously the experience has bothered me enough to waste my time on a Saturday morning to share, so that hopefully others will not be judged or treated this way.
I hope you have a wonderful day!
Sincerely S.T

They implemented a receipt check at the exit and the man checking my receipt drew on my sleeve with Sharpie. I don't know why they need permanent marker for receipt check. When I said "You just drew on my clothes" he didn't even apologize. Very disappointed with the poor process and service.

It's getting one star because it makes you put a star to be able to make a comment. This is by far one of the most disgusting stores I've ever been in. When you open up the door for the dairy case to get milk it smells like rotten milk that's been there forever. They now have security at the front door who will not let you leave unless you show them your receipt which I don't pay to shop at Safeway I pay to shop at costco. It's absolutely ridiculous I understand security but I'm not going to stop and show you my receipt I have better things to do with my time. It's a dirty store it's completely monopolized they've taken over everything. There's 5 or 6 in the city of Everett but only one Fred Meyer 2 grocery Outlets. That seems like a monopoly to me that's not giving people the choice of where to shop anymore cuz you have all the stores closed down so safely can be the only store around. The people that work there are lazy and absolutely rude. Stood in line for 15 minutes because there was one cashier at 5:30 in the afternoon the other workers just wandered around. Absolutely ridiculous and a horrible store has absolutely nothing to start. It's very sad that this happens in this day and age and these companies can monopolize. But once again just a very dirty store. I wouldn't buy dairy products from there cuz if you smell the smell that comes when you open the door to the dairy case is absolutely atrocious

Staff is rude and inattentive. Tell me why a staff member needs to give me a dirty look when I ask if I can get past them? Staff member was tidying up the heavy cream. I waited for 30sec and when they continued to block the entire door I asked if I could get past to get my item. Turn around and looks like I'm the one inconveniencing them. How about "oh I'm sorry, go right ahead" and move out of the way? Go to the front to check out. Machine is being dumb and not working. I hit the "help" button and stand there for a minute while multiple staff are just standing around and joking with each other.

They have very nice staff. There is no focus on rotation and I have thrown away a lot of food because of this. Sweet security guard that checks receipts and probably deals with way too much from thieves. Parking lit isn't lit enough for later shopping.
