This was by the manger running it on January 7th at 7:50pm and was of Indian decent. I did not get his full name.I had to load all my groceries off the counter, which was a lot, While he was shaking hands with his friends and coming back and forth leaving me to take care of my groceries. There was only one cash register open, which is unusual for this time of day/weekend before Christmas. Normally, the meat and seafood counter has several people working, but today there was just one person and he was busy sweeping the floor when I arrived. When he (John) finally helped me, he apologized for the wait and explained that he was the only one there today. Despite being short-staffed, John was incredibly helpful and answered all my questions. That said, it seemed odd that the weekend before Christmas, the store wasn’t staffed more fully, especially at 6 pm. If it was 10 pm on a weekday, I would understand, but 6 pm on a weekend, esp before Christmas seems strange. I hope this was just an exception as I’m not sure how one open checkout lane is manageable. If the trend continues and things keep getting worse, I may need to start shopping at Fred Meyer.
