This was by the manger running it on January 7th at 7:50pm and was of Indian decent. I did not get his full name.I had to load all my groceries off the counter, which was a lot, While he was shaking hands with his friends and coming back and forth leaving me to take care of my groceries. Highly unprofessional as I am a manager of 30 years myself! Bad news for my Safeway!
- BCBellina ChinDec 20, 20252.0I’m a loyal and frequent Safeway customer, and I visited the store around 6 PM on Friday. I was surprised to see that there didn’t seem to be many workers. There was only one cash register open, which is unusual for this time of day/weekend before Christmas. Normally, the meat and seafood counter has several people working, but today there was just one person and he was busy sweeping the floor when I arrived. When he (John) finally helped me, he apologized for the wait and explained that he was the only one there today. Despite being short-staffed, John was incredibly helpful and answered all my questions. That said, it seemed odd that the weekend before Christmas, the store wasn’t staffed more fully, especially at 6 pm. If it was 10 pm on a weekday, I would understand, but 6 pm on a weekend, esp before Christmas seems strange. I hope this was just an exception as I’m not sure how one open checkout lane is manageable. If the trend continues and things keep getting worse, I may need to start shopping at Fred Meyer.
