Tonight I had a very upsetting experience at my local Safeway. We were shopping for snacks with our family when our baby urgently needed to use the restroom. My husband kindly asked an employee (possibly a manager) if he could open the restroom just for our child since they were closed.
The employee immediately responded rudely, saying no, and added that “it’s the same story with 30 people all night,” and told my husband to leave. When my husband expressed frustration, the employee made a completely unacceptable comment: “That’s why we don’t like working with you guys.” This felt discriminatory and extremely inappropriate.
After that, the employee rushed to the front of the store and threatened to call the police, which was completely unnecessary and escalated the situation further — all over a parent asking for restroom access for their baby.
This experience was embarrassing, stressful, and unacceptable. I understand stores may have policies, but there is never an excuse for rude, dismissive, or discriminatory remarks, especially toward families with children. I hope management addresses this behavior seriously.

I'm giving this location 5 stars because I was able to get a $50 turkey free with a $150 purchase, and overall saved $115 on my order. However, the produce department is severely lacking. There were only 5 heads of lettuce that were all soft. When looking for fresh garlic, I noticed most had green roots sticking out and some were brownish in color. I just sliced open the one I purchased and it had obvious rot, with gross brown specs of something unknown. I understand due to the economy the staff has been severely cut, but for now on I'll be buying fresh produce at Marvel or Saars.
