- SGSlowFood GuruNov 17, 20251.0There are a few things that are must-haves for me that I buy here, but only because it’s convenient: Öko kitty litter, Illy Espresso Intensivo, and one nice Bordeaux table wine I’m lucky to have found at all because they still shelve the wine by grape, instead of region, so it is impossible to actually find what you are looking for. There was one other item that was discontinued, so there are no must-need items I come here for. Sometimes I buy local chicken or MSC-certified fish or local cheeses. Now the suits at Hannaford Corporate have discontinued Öko and Illy, probably at the behest of the big food conglomerates who are trying to put small producers out of business, and there is no other reason for me to shop at this awful excuse for a supermarket. I do all my big shopping elsewhere—like I drive to one of the big co-ops or to co-op food store in Lebanon who are very proactive in getting and keeping excellent products, so there is no reason to set foot in Hannaford again, which is fine, because the offering are sickening—literally—processed garbage that will make you fat and sick. I would not even feed my pets the meat they sell in this place. Gross! The vegetables are about the same quality as Aldi, but twice as expensive. For those I go to the Rutland Food Co-op, where the quality and price is actually not bad.

This package had none so I put it in the chili pot. After it all cooked out, I found shreds of paper in the chili. I can't get it all out, so the chili is wasted. The paper was ground into the meat. Very unhappy about this. It was my first time shopping at Hannaford and it will be my last. The bowl contains my attempts to remove the paper shreds. I gave up.
