They charged a service fee of $6.95. When the card could not be used, the store was 100% unhelpful. I was hung up on twice. I searched online to find thousands THOUSANDS of complaints about these gift cards being a total scam, but, Shaws keeps selling them while refusing to provide any support for the victims. HORRIBLE service. After reading the reply from Shaws, I am editing my review to point out that I have already contacted that number. It was not helpful. And your in-store customer service staff hung up on me (loudly and on a recorded call) when I pointed out you should not be selling scam gift cards that you cannot support. I have filed a complaint with BBB, the Vermont AG's office and sent a story tip to Vermont Digger. You should not be selling gift cards that are scams. The company whose cards you are selling has a BBB review with an average of 1 star, and it has HUNDREDS of complaints identical to mine. This is not a 1-off thing. You are literally scamming people and your staff hangs up on them if they complain. Second Edit: After multiple calls to the number Shaws provided, I finally found someone who claims they are issuing a refund. That only happened after I had informed them I was recording the call and they had previously told me they could not help me. Then, suddenly, they had all of the information about the transaction, including the credit card number I used to pay for the gift card. I have not actually seen the refund yet. But, I believe it finally may be coming. The whole system seems set up to take people's money and make it impossible for them to use the cards or get their money back. It should be criminal.
