  I’ve been shopping at Food Lion for about 10 years now. Sunday was my first awkward/confusing experience. I had two unopened items I needed to return with my receipt and I go inside and as I stand by the customer service desk, a woman at register one asked me what she can help me with so I explained to her I have to return returns and she looks at me a little confused and then finishes, cashing out someone and then comes over to where I was standing and asked me to take the two items out of my bag and hand her the receipt so I did. After looking at the items and then looking at my receipt, she says oh I can’t take these items because you did not buy these from my store. So now I’m confused. I have returned many different items bought from Food Lion at many different stores. So I said oh so I can’t return it and she says no and then she says also we don’t carry these items. So I backed my islands back up and I go back to my car after sitting in my car for a couple minutes I think to myself I’m gonna go back into the aisle and see if the items I bought were on the shelves. So I do that and lo and behold. They are my two items on the Shelves fully stocked. So I go back to the front and I ask one of the other cashiers if I could speak to a manager she then looks over towards register one and I said to her if the only manager you have is on register one I want to speak to someone else because she just lied to me. She says oh no OK. I think our other manager is in the back so she calls the other manager. She comes out and I explained the situation to her and she asked me did the woman scan my receipt and I said no she looked it over and then told me she could not take my items because I did not buy them from her store so the Manager says go back to your car Get the items She processes my $26.90 refund And she says OK I’ll talk to her. I am upset with my experience and truly confused and honestly, my feelings are kind of hurt. As a black person, I experienced a lot of racism and it’s truly an exhausting experience, but it hurts more and more each time. I don’t know if she was being lazy about her job and did not want to take the literal three minutes to scan my items and then get my $26 like the other manager did or she did not want to service me because of my skin color. All I know is it was a terrible experience. I will say thank you so much to the other manager. I think her last name was Lindsay for helping me not only do my refund, but she cashed me out with the items that I ended Buying.

  I was in the store before the snow storm and got the worst customer service, not from young lady that Rang me up but from the other lady just staring after i asked her if she was open but she took other customers of different skin tone than mine which i find to be crazy because i use to frequent this store quite a bit. The person needs to be retrained on customer service but this location won’t get my business again

  Baffling incompetence from the cashier staff and from the front counter. What's the point of having a shop and earn MVP reward system? They are just going to use the store card and not even ask for mine. When I complained they said they would have to refund the entire order and ring it up again correctly. What a complete waste of time. I probably won't be back to this location.
