After a quick shopping trip in the area, we decided to try something new and Tacos and Tapas seemed like an interesting concept. When we entered, the small dining area was festive, well-lit, VERY clean, and empty. It was early dinner time on a Sunday night, and we were a little curious about the lack of clientele until we saw numerous carry out customers pass through to pick up orders. The sign in the window described the eclectic menu as globally-influenced, and as I began to look at the menu, I could see this was spot-on!
A nice young man who appeared to be a manager approached us and, upon learning this was our first visit, explained popular menu items and then let us peruse the offerings. We ordered jerk chicken empanadas as an appetizer. We also ordered chips, salsa and guac. The chips were light and crispy and the guac and salsa were tasty--obviously homemade and fresh. He explained the salsa that accompanied the empanadas, the chips, and all of the salsas and sauces for all of the tacos were made in-house. The empanadas (there were two) were gooey and delicious-just enough spice for flavor, with a crisp delicious shell and oozing cheese and sauce. They came with a tangy salsa verde.
We each ordered tacos--collectively a birria, bulgogi, mushroom, cauliflower and chicken tinga. Every single one was amazing--each with special condiments that emphasized the flavor of the main ingredient. And we were stuffed!
However, I love sopapillas--a food commonly served as bread (accompanied by honey) in New Mexico--so had to try their dessert version. It came with 3 large (appearing even larger with a full tummy) sopapillas that were sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, fresh and crispy outside and wonderfully moist inside. Large chunks of strawberries in their sweet juice were drizzled over the fried pillows, accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It should have been more than I could eat, but there was not a morsel left on the plate when I finished!
This was a fantastic discovery for us and, although it is a good distance from our home, we intend to return soon--with friends. I highly recommend this unique restaurant.

This is absolutely one of our top 3 regular go-to places in the area - like once or twice a week. Pablo rocks it at the bar and Tomas is an insane chef! (And many thanks to Samet and Drew as welll!) Their salsa is to die for, tacos are all amazing (though you seriously have to try the Poblano and Corn!), and the Croquetas are the best my goddaughter has had outside of Miami! Then, top your evening off with the Guava Cheesecake and a Pablo-made Espresso Martini! Want to try it out, Happy Hour tacos are $4!
Our first time at La Prensa Tacos & Tapas - and not a place I would return to. It’s a little tight around the restaurant and for the price we paid, certainly didn’t think the food was worth it.
Unlike someone had mentioned, the chips & salsa weren’t complimentary! The carne asada was good enough. Since I could use more flavoring / spiciness - I asked for a hot sauce .. which they didn’t have but harbenero sauce was available for purchase?! - which also was just ok!
So there’s no free chips and no free hot sauce…and on top, the waitress seemed to be in the face, anxy, and dropping stuff all around us! Finally - I asked for the check (as in - I wanted to see a print out) 3 separate times but she would only show me her little machine and the prices listed. I wasn’t really convinced about what I was paying for - but since I felt I had enough of the place and wanted to get the heck out, we paid and left. The churros were good though!

I'm not from here, but I was craving a burger. While searching, my GPS led me to the place next door, but they had terrible reviews, so I decided to give "La Prensa” a shot. And wow, what a fantastic surprise! My experience was absolutely amazing—super positive and memorable. The staff is incredibly friendly! The food is authentic and utterly delicious, and they even offer cooking classes. They serve more than just tacos and tapas; you can find burgers and salsas to-go as well! I was blown away by all the amazing flavors, so much so that I had to share—they let me try all the salsas, and I ended up taking two to go. Trust me, you have to try this place—it's truly a gem!

Took their Sunday mixology class and it was absolutely amazing! Samet walked us through all of the different types of tequila and then we started to make drinks. One was better than the next. He created a drink on the spot and the too was amazing. There was a food pairing with each drink. From the street corner to the empanada to the short rib enchilada EVERY THING was delicious. We closed with an expresso martini with best sopapilla I’ve ever had. Could not recommend this class or the restaurant highly enough. Samet is a genius!
