Completed a mobile order for curbside pick up. My order was simply ONE 6 piece chicken nugget happy meal, and I used 6k points to get it for free.
I checked into the curbside pick up and waited to get my order.... I waited 20 mins and no one ever brought my order. I went through the drive thru, told them I was waiting for my curbside order and no one ever brought it to me. I said my order was a 6 piece nugget happy meal. I waited additional time in the drive thru line, and the guy at the first window handed me my order. I drove off and got home, and submitted a complaint through the McDonald's app about my experience. As I open the happy meal box, I see the fries, apple slices , the sauce, and the toy... but no nuggets were provided. I then drove back to McDonald's, went directly to the drive thru, and told the associate that I was just here, waiting for my curbside order that I never received and had to come through the drive thru, the associate confirmed he remembered me from a few minutes ago, and I said I was never given any nuggets in my meal, and I repeated that I had a 6 piece nugget. He told me to pull up to the drive thru window to get my food. He then handed me a bag, and when I open it, I see I was given a 4 count of nuggets. I was so annoyed. And at this point it wasn't even about the food it was the TERRIBLE SERVICE. I said I will keep these 4 count of nuggets(since that is what he gave me), and to bring me what I ordered. He said no, he would not do that, and that I needed to give him back the 4 count in order to get my correct order. I asked him why is it that no one can provide a simple order of 6 nuggets, and his response was that he is just given the food that is handed to him. HERE IS A TRAINING TIP: MAKE SURE TO CONFIRM WITH THE CUSTOMER WHAT THEY ORDERED AND CONFIRM THAT IS WHAT YOU ARE BEING HANDED BEFORE GIVING IT TO A CUSTOMER.
After giving him back the 4 count, he then came back, with the box of 4 count of nuggets, and a box of 6 count of nuggets and handed it to me saying he was giving me both. I asked him who is the manager, and he pointed behind him saying they were back there, and I told him I needed to speak with a manager right now. He then called for the manager, and said towards me "well we are busy right now, but ok". The manager, I think her name was Sandy, was extremely professional, apologetic, and most of all she LISTENED TO THE CUSTOMER. I do appreciate her efforts and the way she handled this issue, but at the end of the day, it should not have needed to be escalated to her. She said she understood that they needed to do better about their service, and she gave me a refund for the meal. I told her I never paid to begin with since I used my points, but she explained that she still wanted to give me a refund because I wasted gas having to come back for their mistake. Thank you again to the Manager.
This incident was never about the $5 or about the food itself, it is solely about CUSTOMER SERVICE and the CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE.
I had a really disappointing experience at McDonald’s.
We waited about 35-45 minutes for our order, and we were patient the whole time—but when we finally got our food, some items were missing like 5 items. On top of that, the fries looked like they were just dumped in carelessly, like nobody even checked or cared about the quality.
I went back to ask for the missing items and to have the fries fixed. Thankfully, Raegun (I asked her name) was the only person who stepped in and actually helped—she was kind and professional, and I really appreciate her.
Unfortunately, the rest of the staff avoided eye contact, kept walking past us, and didn’t respond even when we were clearly asking for help. I also asked to replace my cheeseburger, my cheeseburger was hard as wood but the person who handled it lacked basic customer service—no greeting, I said thank you--no apology, not even a simple “you’re welcome.” It really felt like proper training is needed for everybody to greet and handle customers nicely and pleasant.
Overall, very poor service experience, except for Raegun who stood out for doing the right thing.
