One of our favorite places to eat in the area. I'm particularly delighted with the fresh, healthy salads. We do wish you'd also offer impossible burgers as an option.

The best, no question about it. Food, atmosphere and super friendly service. We love especially their hamburgers, chicken sandwich, French toast and all the egg dishes.

After reading the one-star reviews, it seems there’s a pattern of staff “freaking out” when the restaurant gets busy. As a regular, that’s surprising—unless ownership or policies have changed. I recently brought a friend from out of town specifically because she remembered this place fondly from a previous visit. During that visit, we were asked to leave because of our daughters’ food allergies. We had brought food for them, which we had always done in the past. On previous visits, my father had asked whether his granddaughters could eat there if we brought allergy-safe food, and we were told yes. I’m not sure whether the issue was that they are no longer toddlers, but this policy was never clearly explained. The situation was handled poorly and was deeply embarrassing and discouraging. I didn’t post a review at the time because I was still very emotional about it. There was a proper way to address the situation, and this wasn’t it. The staff likely didn’t realize that the moms at the table were about to order around $200 worth of food, but that doesn’t excuse how it was handled. To this day, my daughters still remember being “kicked out.” My husband was sitting with four children at the time—a one-year-old, a toddler, and our two girls. This was one of the very few places in the area where our family could eat safely given my girls’ allergies. Additionally, my mother regularly brings church groups from Charlottesville to this restaurant, and she was very upset by the interaction as well. The woman who spoke with us was extremely dismissive and said the owner required us to leave, while also claiming he had “just left the building” when I asked to speak with the owner. Whether that was true or not, I left my phone number and never received a call. I was very direct to the younger lady taking my order to be sure to give my number, as I want to talk. She assured me she would and she was very kind. However, I never received a call. The reply on my husband’s post is also dismissive, so the pattern of being dismissive tracks. We haven’t returned since. After reading other one-star reviews, I now understand that this seems to be an issue with handling busy periods. I grew up in a family restaurant and understand how stressful it can be. Still, responsibility for customer care doesn’t disappear when things get hectic. I may eventually come in to talk about this, or perhaps you could find my number and actually call me. This is a small town, and this restaurant is part of my community. I’m willing to have a conversation rather than avoid the establishment—but until then, this review remains. Accountability matters, even when you’re busy. Food allergies are considered special needs, and we were kicked out because my girls have too many food allergies. You say you will accommodate (on my husbands review), but there isn’t anything on the menu that they can have. Again dismissive, thinking they have average issues. I don’t think you would kick someone out in a wheelchair or a baby, but a 9 year old who “looks normal” can’t sit with us. If this is your policy, then fine. You could at least call and make it right.
