We visited VietHolic for an early lunch today for the first time. We usually go to Pho Que Huong for pork chops and Tay Do for pho in the West End, but decided to drive out to Midlothian to give VietHolic a try.
Pros:
The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a welcoming atmosphere. Our server was friendly and attentive. The cơm sườn (pork chop) was tender, flavorful, and not dry or chewy at all — I really enjoyed it. The chicken wings were also very tasty. The bathroom was clean, and I appreciated that they provide paper towels.
Cons:
The main issue for us was the sweetness level. The fish sauce was extremely sweet — more like sugar water. The cast-iron sizzling bánh mì was also too sweet for our taste. My wife loved the wings even though they were slightly on the sweet side, but her sizzling bánh mì was overly sweet as well.
Growing up in a Vietnamese household, I’m used to a more balanced, traditional fish sauce — like the kind my dad used to make (and now my wife makes at home). It felt like the sweetness might be adjusted to cater more to American tastes.
That said, I really appreciated that our server asked how the food was and took my feedback about the fish sauce professionally. He said he would pass the comment along to management, which I respect.
One small note: the soap dispenser in the bathroom was empty, but I found a refill bottle under the sink and filled it myself.
Overall, it was a good first experience. We’re willing to come back and give it another try, and hopefully some of the sweetness levels will be adjusted.
First time customer.
Oxtail was cold in the center. Soup broth was warm only. I suspect they add cold/frozen meats to the soup separately, cooling the broth and the meats struggle to cook all the way.
Positive note : they didn't charge for the oxtail. So customer service was honest. That is why I gave 3 stars.
First experience doesn't match the hype.
The staff was very sweet. The food was great. The bar looked well stocked and the drink menu is pretty decent but we only had time for a bottle of Singha (also very good.)
Inside is modern and clean. It was quiet (not bad quiet like you need to whisper. Just a good quiet like you can hear your friend across from you just fine without talking loudly 😉) at lunch time despite a steady stream of customers. It's nice but also fairly casual. Highly recommend. Will definitely return.
What a nice Vietnamese restaurant! I stopped here for lunch today and I was pleasantly surprised. I started with some grilled pork spring rolls as they were recommended by a friend. They were so good. I then ordered the spicy beef Pho, which came out in a hot bowl (reminded me of fajitas coming out hot). I added all the fixins, and it was delicious. The inside of this place is really nice, and more modern. I will definitely go back an recommend you try it as well. 👍👍

Hands down the best Vietnamese cuisine I’ve had in the past year. Viet holic is still new. They’ve only been open about six months, and it already feels like a must stop spot.
It’s in a location you’ll almost pass if you’re not looking for it. Right at Powhite Parkway, next to the Holiday Inn Express. Once you’re inside, the vibe completely changes. Clean, modern, and genuinely up to date without trying too hard.
The broth was incredibly flavorful. Deep, rich, and clearly made with care. I ordered the pho round and brisket, plus the pork dumplings and pork spring rolls. Everything was fresh, hot, and packed with flavor. My wife got the chicken fried rice, and it was just as solid. Well seasoned and satisfying.
What really elevated the experience was the hospitality. The owner and his wife, who is the chef, were warm, attentive, and genuinely proud of what they’re serving. You can feel the heart behind the food. Our server, Jenna, was warm, polite, and incredibly enthusiastic about working there. She shared her personal favorites, which made the experience feel welcoming and authentic.
Overall, Viet holic isn’t just a great meal. It’s a full experience. I will definitely be back. Bravo. 🍜👏
My daughter Caydence LOVED IT!!! 😊
