  Overall, this was a nice meal, but I was expecting a more curated/high-end experience. The wine glasses at our table were covered in water spots. The vent in the ceiling and the white tiles around it had black mold stains, which my husband couldn’t stop staring at and seems like an easy fix. The food was a bit over salty for us (both the tomahawk steak and the au gratin potatoes). The steak was otherwise perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Our server was friendly and the pace of service was good. The bread was delicious! Lastly, I got a zero proof cocktail that was well made, and my husband enjoyed the cocktail that the server suggested for him. This was a fine experience, but some of these small items impacted my overall impression.

  We had dinner for 4 the day after Christmas. Unlike a Christmas Eve dinner several years ago, we were seated immediately at the time of our reservation. Our waiter was very good, giving excellent recommendations for dinner. The sea bass he recommended was delicious. The service was attentive and our water glasses remained full. Our company enjoyed their beef entrees. The cheesecake that we shared was also delicious. The noise level was not loud. It is a place to which I will return.

  My wife and I dined at Fleming’s Richmond to celebrate her birthday recently. When making the reservation I specifically asked for a quiet table for 2. Despite seeing several empty booths, we were directed to a 4-top that was wedged so close to the other tables that the servers had to keep excusing themselves when stepping past. Determined to make the best of it we settled in, looking forward to what should have been a high-end steakhouse experience. Let me clarify what I mean by that. A high-end steakhouse does not rush service, provides gentle suggestions when prompted, serves premium-quality steaks and sides that make you savor every bite, and has trained their staff to know not to interrupt a diner in mid-sentence to ask arcane questions like “How are we enjoying the food?” The only excuse for the type of interruptions we suffered is to inform the guests that the building is on fire and they need to leave immediately. Otherwise, you stand for a moment and wait your turn to speak. Alas, we had very little that was good in our short meal at Fleming’s. Our waiter was constantly trying to upsell us on dishes, especially with the steak toppings and seafood parings. Here’s a tip: If there is an entire section of the menu devoted to the various concoctions you can put on top of your steak (Truffle-poached lobster & caviar with béarnaise sauce?) Then maybe you should consider that the steaks don’t taste all that good by themselves. Turns out that was the case – I’ve had more flavorful NY Strips for a third of the price. The food: We started with a Wedge Salad – our server had said it was large enough to split and he was correct. I’ve had many variations on this dish and can say that Fleming’s did this right, was very good. It would have been better had we been permitted to finish it before the steaks came out, but that was not to be. As previously stated, the NY Strip was nothing to write home about – tender but very mild in taste, while the Petite filet was ‘fine’. Decent enough but unremarkable. Maybe we should have smothered them in the garlic butter mushroom medley? Enough of that would probably make Styrofoam taste good. To accompany our steaks, we opted to share a side of Fleming’s potatoes. Very onion-forward, as in way too much onion. Didn’t finish that. To wrap up the evening, we opted to share the crème brulee. Surely that would be good, right? Nope. It tasted like it was made from a mix. Coffee was decent. The bill, including gratuity was just shy of $400. I’ve had expensive dinners that were much better for much less. My wife now refers to Fleming's as a fancy looking cafeteria with unjustified pricing.

  People have really hyped up this restaurant, so when we went for our work Christmas dinner, I was prepared to eat delicious food. I was not at all impressed. The steak, though being tender and cooked like I liked it, had no flavor along with the mashed potatoes, which was too runny. My asparagus was too chewy- maybe just not cooked enough. And for this, I paid $130! Nope...not again!

  Beware— we were pickpocketed there sitting at the bar. While at dinner, fraudulent charges started hitting the card. Manager just looked blankly at us as we reported it. Additionally, out of stocks on staples you would expect at a high end restaurant like Brussel sprouts, ice cubes. Will NEVER return.
