The pasta is to die for! I have the privilege of living down the street and can cost any time! I haven’t ever had a meal I wouldn’t suggest! Definitely a must if you’re craving some Italian food!

Saturday night. Even though we had a reservation and got seated immediately, we had no waiter. After 20 minutes we had to find a waitress to help us. The chicken in the chicken marsala was tender but the dish, as well as the side pasta, was overly salty. The marsala sauce did not taste home made. Food is overpriced for the quality. No service. Not a good dining experience overall.

The food is fine, but the service is the difference.
We ate here on New Year's Eve after trying to keep our dinner plans simple. We tried Gregorio's for the first time since it was in our neighborhood. The reviews seem to really favor the pizza, but tonight we tried pasta.
Water was served quickly along with bread sticks, and some garlic knots with marinara for dipping. We gobbled those up (but that might have cost us room for dessert).
We started with a small Gregorio's salad. It was fine and tasty - but if you're worried about salad size, this serving was pretty small and not a good value at all at $12.99.
My wife ordered the shrimp scampi, which was served with linguini. She got about 6-7 very large shrimp (even after cooking) and they did not commit the sin of overcooking the shrimp. The pasta was good enough that she took the leftovers home even with all the shrimp eaten.
I got the chicken piccata - which was actually a reasonable portion (some restaurants overdo it). The two chicken scallopine were nice and thin and well breaded but not too soggy. The lemon butter pasta was just OK and could have used more refinement. I think a lemon butter pasta should have a noticeable lemon taste but not be overpowering. Also, I like capers, but they went a little over the top with about 3 tablespoons.
At $27 and $26 dollars, I think the pasta was fairly priced for dinner portions.
One thing I agree on that appears in most reviews is the excellent service. I think we were probably asked by 5 different people if everything was OK as we got water service and as each dish was brought by. The staff is definitely trained for service.
Some minor suggestions to earn the extra star in the review:
- Maybe also offer some good olive oil for dipping with the break
- Offer freshly grated parmesan on your pastas (the pre-grated stuff is OK but just for pizza)
- Dial back the sourness and capers a little bit on the lemon butter pasta - but maybe that's just my taste
As far as the ambiance, it certainly was bustling, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. But they also do a LOT of takeout business, which can detract from the atmosphere. When you walk in, it's the takeout area that gives the first impression, not the restaurant.
I think next time we might try the "best NY pizza outside of New York" and maybe save room for coffee and dessert. I also am intrigued by the braised short ribs and "linguine con vongole" is also a dish I usually look for as my standard for a restaurant (next time).
I think 4 starts overall is a very decent and fair review for this neighborhood restaurant that offers good food and excellent service.

Great little neighborhood Italian joint. Pizza is superb, as is the rest of the menu that I have tried. People are friendly and service has been great in my experience.

Gregorio’s pizza is excellent. Its fresh, high-quality ingredients such as pepperoni, mushrooms, and rich flavorful mozzarella put it in a class by itself. The hand-tossed crust is perfectly textured. The sauce is truly Italian, being rich but not overly sweet. I’ve tried every pizza within a 30-mile radius of Reston, and Gregorio’s pizza beats all of the others, hands-down.
