I do not understand how anyone gives this place 5 stars. (Review bomb?) I've been to high end food lion and they are at best a 4. That's the deal - save money and get less polish like Harris Teeter or Kroger. Only that's not the case anymore. Food Lion isn't such a great deal anymore. The store is smaller than many grocery stores and its selection is limited because of this. The back end staff are generally pretty decent. The deli in particular is always helpful, although the deli selection is very hit or miss. I've seen intensely moldy bread on the shelves before, and have had to really get used to checking it carefully before buying as it has happened more than once. For me, the biggest downside - the reason that I come to this place only when I have to - is the front end. It's very hard to budget one's time when a trip is either going to be 15 minutes or 45, depending on the lines, even if I'm just buying lunch. I'd say one out of every three or four visits, dealing with the cashiers is so terrible that it is noteworthy and makes me not want to go back for a while. A few of them are rude, bad at their jobs, literally toss groceries into the bags without any concern for the amount of money people are dropping just to eat. I'm sure they get paid nothing for their efforts, but if they can't do the basic job of bagging groceries, maybe that's all they deserve? I've had them stand there and glare at me, judging me for whatever, on the phones *while ringing me up,* maliciously crush my groceries when they saw me rebag something horrendous that hey did out of apathy in the first place. The list goes on. The lack of staffing does not help. There are twelve (ish) registers and I've never seen more than two open unless they are in a rush. Every other time I go there, the lines are backed up halfway down the aisle, they are taking some lady with a thousand individual cans of peas or something in the express lane, and suddenly I'm at walmart without the deal. I think that the reason this place gets as much foot traffic as it does is because of its location. It's extremely convenient, which is why I end up going there despite these troubles. Walmart is generally a better than this place, if only because I know what I am getting. Take it for what it's worth.

Food Lion: Generally the store attendants are more than friendly. There is one particular cashier who greets with disparaging comments. There are also unkindly comments coming from the Deli section. Please, have the manager look into this issue as these occurrences have been for too long until corporate is contacted. Thank you!
