- EWEmily WhiteNov 20, 20251.0Last night I was in the produce section at this Food Lion when a woman waved at me, repeated, “excuse me” twice in a Middle Eastern accent and asked me to pay for her groceries because she said she had 6 children. It immediately felt like a scam. None of her alleged 6 children were with her, she had 10-15 items already in her cart & the fancy cheese on top was more expensive than I would’ve considered buying. When I told her I wasn’t there for that she disappeared, but another Middle eastern man with a salt and pepper beard, similar hair, and a black pea coat started following me throughout the store. He had nothing in his cart but he had his cell phone up to his ear, the entire time describing where we were in the store. It honestly felt like it could even be a human trafficking situation. Thankfully, my husband was at the store with me and the second he saw my husband he disappeared. This is just to warn any young woman who shops here alone. If this happens to you please immediately go to the manager and request an escort to your car. I wish I had done that. I feel bad. I didn’t file a police report. I worry someone else could be hurt because I didn’t Immediately know what to do last night. Be safe out there!
