  We dined at Guapos on April 1st during lunch time. We love Guapos and we usually go to the new location on Gatehouse road but that day we were in the shopping center and we decided to go to the Guapos at Fair Lakes. As like the other location restaurant was clean and beautiful but our experience with our service was absolutely horrible. There was hardly anyone dining maybe a total of 5 tables. Caterina B. was our server and her services was absolutely horrible. First of all no personality, did not come to our table to check on our food or drinks. We kept trying to flag someone down for refills on our drinks and chips and salsa. She did not check on how was our food. We will never return to this location again.

  We came here for a late lunch and we’re just disappointed. It took 30 minutes for our food to come out. We didn’t order any appetizers or drinks, just water, and we had the complementary chips and salsa. Our salsa and water ran out and the waiter never came by to check on us or refill anything. Waiting 30 minutes with nothing to hold us over was just generally unacceptable. I also ordered the shrimp tacos and was disappointed and surprised that they came out fried. They were full of fresh ingredients, slaw, pico, lime, corn tortilla, but the shrimp were fried. I wanted something light and with all that fresh ingredients it didn’t make sense that it was fried. Nowhere on the menu does it say anything about fried shrimp. If you’re going to change up the style it really should say that on the menu. I just couldn’t enjoy the dish at all and ruined my appetite for dessert.

  A girlfriend and I went to Guapo’s for dinner and drinks (failed to take pictures of the food). The drinks were delicious, as was the food. The staff was attentive and on top of things. So attentive that they flip tables so quickly and tried to take our plates when there was still food. Granted, we slowed down and started talking… and catching up with each other… but toward the end of our meal, we felt rather rushed.

  When we arrived at Guapo’s in Fair Lakes this Saturday it was packed with customers. Nonetheless we were seated a few minutes later. As we were seating chips and salsa was served! My husband and I were SO impressed at the quick service. Shortly afterwards our drinks were brought. Before we knew it our food was served. It was absolutely delicious, as always. We have visited many restaurants in the Inited States and in Europe but we’ve never seen such incredible service even though they were REALLY busy. It reflects on the proper training the staff received, excellent planning, great management and a staff who work as a team and is happy to serve you. That’s the reason we visit Guapo’s in Fairfax over and over again!

  I am very disappointed with both the service and food quality at Guapo’s Restaurant in Fair Lakes. This location used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but after yesterday’s experience, my perspective has unfortunately changed. Our server barely came by our table. Guests who were seated after us received their drinks and chips before we did. In fact, we did not even receive simple water until my husband had to go find someone to ask for it. When our food finally arrived, it was already cold. The butter on top of my daughter’s pancake looked brown and unappetizing, my mimosa glass was so sticky on the outside and rim was dirty, my husband’s and I’s tamales were distasteful. Details like this matter so much! At the Merrifield Guapo’s Restaurant location, they go the extra mile by cutting pancakes into cute shapes like hearts or stars and serving them with fruit, making the meal more thoughtful and kid-friendly. I’ve never received a dirty glass, and food always comes out warm. Unfortunately, the Fair Lakes location seems to have lost the care, creativity, and warmth it once portrayed. The overall experience felt rushed and inattentive, which was very disappointing. Moving forward, we will be choosing the Merrifield location instead, as they consistently provide attentive service, warm food, kid-friendly presentation, and a welcoming,caring atmosphere.
